My nails are still stained from Flamingo Pink nail polish (by Barry M) – I am waiting for the yellowness to grow out.
USE A BASE COAT THEN! you cry…
I did! It still stained
It did make me go out and buy some new nail base and top coats anyway, to see how effective different brands are at protecting the nail from staining. I had to buy these Paul & Joe top and base coats because I lurveeeee the packaging:
There is nothing about Paul & Joe packaging I don’t like…apart from when they use too much cardboard!
Anyhoo, I bought the top coat from eBay and the base coat from Beautybay.com for about £9 each. They were ordered on different days but arrived together – see? Like lovebirds.
This Paul & Joe top coat and base coat aren’t quite the stuff I’m used to – the base coat has a light pink hue and the top coat has…well, do you want to see?! (well you probably can see if you look closely!)
GLITTER!
I didn’t know before I bought it that it was infused with sparkle. I quite like it because I am a sparkle/glitter kind of gal, and yet, I can’t deny the fact that it isn’t always practical.
I love the oversized ball that’s in the bottle! It’s for mixing things up of course.
When I was a kid I used to shake my mum and aunties nail polishes around, just to find the little silver balls inside. Do they do those anymore? I don’t recall seeing them in modern day polishes which is a shame. Trying to get them out of the bottle should be a rite of passage.
I love the brush on these, it’s quite wide, I just find it easy to use and quick to apply.
Both the top and base coat seem to dry quickly and the base coat has so far prevented any staining from some red and green polish I have been sporting.
The top coat – I mean it’s glittery so one has to be in a glittery mood for it but it’s quite nice. My nails have been chipping after 4 days or so but this is normal for me, even with a hardcore manicure, it always chips quite quickly.
So what do you think of these? Would you buy these based on how cuteeeeeeeee then are or would you stick to a ‘nail polish’ brand (OPI, Essie, Jessica etc.) for a top coat and base coat?
* I am sure Paul & Joe do a clear top coat too? You’d have to check with who you were buying it from, clearly I didn’t.

Aughhhhh. I’ve never been much of a fan of glitter….anything. D: I don’t know why but glitter just makes me feel really…I don’t know how to put it…really…gaudy? Though it may just be because I don’t tend to go out for parties or anything very often so very flashy things on a normal basis is very overdone for me.

I think they do a clear top coat in dun.dun.dun Fenwicks it’s either clear or a really translucent pink. Oh I went to the P&J counter today and got the limited stuff so cute! the GWP is the floral print, kinda disappointed I liked the swans. Oh also the new WP eyeliner is truly WP.

hello ! i’m planning on getting pj base coat and top coat and so was searching for reviews online.
i already tried base coat and noticed that it has a scent.
does the top coat also have that?
about the glitter thing, i think they would probably stay on the bottom after you leave the bottle still long enough and w/o shaking it before use?
just give it a try
