Dry cuticles? I haz dem.
The problem is though, I am so lazy when it comes to my nails. They grow fast, they grow strong…so therefore I don’t pay them much attention.
On top of this, I don’t actually know proper cuticle care is, aside from using a bit of oil.
Whenever I’ve had a manicure its always been a massive disaster – my nails do not like being trimmed or pushed back. Really.
So here I have a Natural Cuticle Oil by Botanicals, a ‘natural’ beauty brand from the UK.
They say:
Used by professionals in manicure and pedicure treatments, our intensive organic treatment oil will literally feed the nails, soften cuticles and help to keep hands and feet looking their best. A perfect anti-aging treatment for hands and feet.
This product comes in a little dropper bottle….I say little but this stuff is going to last forever.
The oil smells…nice. Sort of like…rosy. Its pretty thick but rubs in easily and the dropper bottle does become a little problematic in terms of quantity control.
You can use this on your hands though, so in the end I just squeezed some out and use it over the hand. Its not too greasy for all over use.
I have quite a few nail oils come to think of it, but for some reason I don’t like the texture of the oils…they always feel a bit thin to me.
The botanicals one is much richer…One drop – actually more than enough for one hand never mind one nail, even though I do have quite big nails (is this possible? I guess so, if one has big hands…)
Rubbed in – quite a glossy finish!
Ingredients:
Ingredients: Prunus armeniaca (apricot) kernel oil*, rosa canina fruit oil*, oenothera biennis (evening primrose) oil*, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil*, carotenoids, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) flower oil*, boswellia carterii oil*, foeniculum vulgare (fennel) oil *, tocopherol (vitamin E), geraniol**, limonene**, linalool**. (*Certified organic ingredient. **Natural constituents of essential oils.)
Verdict:
I wasn’t too sure if this would be too greasy for me but its a really nice cuticle oil. In my case, I like it is both a hand and nail moisturiser – 2 drops does it and then it keeps everything hydrated for most of the day.
I also used this before washing my make up brushes to protect my hands…random, I know, but I have about 150 make up brushes and it takes forever and dries my hands out.
Just Sayin’!
10ml is £8.50 and 30ml is £15.95 – you can buy it from here.

I think most people have dry cuticles these days. We wash our hands too often and don’t stay hydrated.
I’ve completely stopped buying cuticle oil as I like to mix it myself and it’s so much cheaper. This means that I can choose whichever oils and essential oils I prefer (my current batch smells like passionfruit and grapefruit, for example). For me the best type of container is a lipgloss tube with a doe foot applicator, as this provides superior control over the amount of oil I use.
But this oil does look tempting, the ingredients sound like nothing I’ve ever tried.

Nothing beats using organic natural ingredients on your fingernails.
