I am a bit of an eye drop addict! As crazy as that sounds, there are some interesting eye drops out there mainly from Asia which are supposed to refresh and moisturise the eyes.
Japanese eyes drops tend to err of the minty refreshing side - this is a real shock to the system if you’ve never used it before! It’s ok for some days but it’s not so great if you just want some eye drops to quickly hydrate the eyes because they really do make your eyes water.
Then there is Optrex Actimist! Now – I’ve used this before and to be honest I didn’t get it, I didn’t like it because interestingly it’s sprayed on a closed eye, so the effect is different to using drops directly into the eye. They’ve recently bright out some 2 in 1 eye sprays so I decided to try it again:
I have warmed to this product a lot more the second time around.
This particular one is for Tired & Uncomfortable eyes – so for people who do late nights (me), spend hours in front of the computer (me) and just generally have dry sore eyes (me also). The mist contains liposomes which are supposed to make your eyes more comfortable.
It also:
- Hydrated the skin around the eyes
- Does not smudge eye make up (it will if you go crazy with it)
- Lasts up to 4 hours.
Ingredients:
This is ALWAYS sprayed on to closed eyes (it does hurt if you get it into the actual eyes although it’s not too painful. Strangely enough I never found the old or should I say first formula painful at all) at 10cm away. You can spray it 1-2 times 3 to 4 times a day. There’s nothing harmful there, it’s not like whitening eye drops where you need to restrict how often you use it.
This time round, I have been using this eye spray sporadically, and I do like it. You have to keep your eyes closed for a little bit after, I think, and then the whole area feels a bit cooler and more refreshed, although, it isn’t as full on as using actual drops.
If you have a phobia of drops, this could be a nice alternative although I guess having something sprayed into your eye is never that nice!
It comes in a very compact little bottle:
I do like this product I really do – if there’s one part of me that gets tired first it’s my eyes so it’s been quite refreshing to keep on my desk.
Now – it says on the box that you can use this up to 6 months after it’s been opened. I am sure the old formula it was 12 months so I don’t know why it is shorter with this product. I like the fact you can keep it for a while other eye drops almost always need to be thrown away 1 month after opening.
The price is high - £15.99 at Boots, but the main justification for the price I would think is the fact it lasts 6 times longer than regular eye drops.
I keep this in my bag (actually I think I lost it as I’m currently packing things up!!!) but I would go out and buy this when it runs out.
Would you try Optrex Actimist?
