If you follow my Twitter you will know I agonised over a parcel sent from Hong Kong containing my beautiful Cle De Peau Lipstick which had gone missing.

I was worried because I’ve had quite a few things go missing recently, especially post from abroad without any tracking information. It’s seriously frustrating because all you can do is claim for the money back from the sender – it doesn’t deal with the fundamental issue of – wait! Where the hell does all my missing post ACTUALLY go?

Ranting aside, after many calls and general harrassment, lo and behold, 4 weeks late comes my Cle De Peau. If a parcel hasn’t arrived after 3 weeks, it’s usually sayonara baby, but here it is, at last, with me!

Cle De Peau is the height of high end make up luxury and elegance. If Megan Fox was MAC, then Cate Blanchett and her squishy face would be Cle De Peau (actually, she is quite fittingly one the SKII spokes ladies).

Cle De Peau packaging is a navy blue with a gold top. I own some of the Cle De Peau Extra Silky Lipsticks that come in a long tube. They’re lovely!

Packaging is nice. It’s well made. It’s not in your face glamour like say, YSL, (YSL is J-LO, Cle De Peau is Penelope Cruz) but it’s got a bit more oomph than standard Chanel lipsticks (but not the Rouge Allure which is quite sexy. Click click!) – but I am really really digressing….

Extra Rich lipstick is different to Extra Silky. It should have a richer, creamier, more opaque finish than Extra Silky which is a slightly sheer, lip balm type texture.

The lipstick is an interesting shape!Pretty, right?! I thought the edges meant that you could use the lipstick to get really sharp lines – which you can, but it wears down very quickly. After 5 applications, mine was rounded at the top.

This shade is T1, Halloween. It looks nothing like Halloween….it’s not very vampy or scary. Actually it looks like a peach-pumpkin shade so many that’s why!

In the Extra Rich lipstick, the ‘T’ ranges have the more natural colours, the ‘R’ range are bold reds and berries.

I have found the ‘R’ range is sold more widely on eBay and the like but I am not paying so much for a lipstick which only comes out once a year when I am having my ‘I want to be Audrey Tautou’ moment.

Like I expected, this lipstick has a beautiful texture – creamy, soft, pigmented, very hydrating….

It seemed to really keep my lips hydrated. I am emphasizing this because my lips feel like they are going to fall off at the moment. Drink more water you say? I hate water!

I’d say in terms of opacity, it’s not as rich as YSL’s Rouge Volupte – it’s more forgiving than that, with a slight sheerness, a glossy juiciness to it (may not apply to the ‘R’ range) which does actually mean it’s easier to wear.

This lasted about 3-5 hours per day. Because it’s creamy, it doesn’t always stay put so well. I don’t mind reapplying lipstick or gloss for the sake of hydration, so it’s fine by me.

Here it is on my lips. Please ignore the fact I look toothless – I assure you, I have teeth.

Verdict:

So the shade isn’t what I thought it would be – I thought it would be more nude but it’s actually a warm peach but it still works well enough on my lips to be a keeper.

I paid $49.99 for this, it’s $60 on official US sites. UK ladies, look on eBay!
Would you buy Cle De Peau Extra Rich Lipstick? At around $60/£38

wow, it looks gorgeous. If it really feels divine, I might pay that much money if it’s a color I would wear all the time. But for less than perfection, I dunno. too afraid of losing it or something.

It looks absolutely gorgeous but I couldn’t fork that much money over for a lippie. Very pretty though!
