April, Yay!

It’s April soon! The clocks went back yesterday and we have more hours of sunlight – hurrah! The sun peeped out to say hello for a while and I have dug out the SPF and some sunglasses to keep the pesky UV away.

April will be Base special month!  Each week, there will be a focus on a particular type of products; Primers, Eye Primers, Powder Foundations and finally Foundations.  There will also be the giveaways every week too, and my first video review/tutorial type thing coming up shortly.

Also, I will start working on the swatch library (I plan on documenting every single cosmetic item I own – eek! to have as a reference library type thing), and the new rating system will come into effect soon.

All giveaways will be posted out tomorrow – I am very sorry about the delay especially to those who won a few weeks back but I really have been so busy, and Cosmetic Candy is a one woman (and occasionally one boyf, plus 2 cats) run show!

Thank you all for still reading and commenting (if you do) it’s nice to know there are people out there?

I am thinking about having a new category – Photography. Despite my crappy product photos I am a trained photographer (I spend too much time in studios with huge cameras to do the same at home) so I am thinking of having beauty-related-photography tips on the blog. What do you think?

I’m looking forward to april then! And your posts XD
I think photography would be an excellent idea. You seem to take very very good photos from what I’ve seen. I love the cats, too!

      Hey abby
I don’t think with these photos I have to say, I just snap!!! (that’s probably terrible to admit but I have to be completely different with pro shots). Seems like it could be helpful though!

I don’t really know anything about beauty photography, so just about anything you know would be helpful.

Have you come across an absolutely scent-free base, powder, or scentless cream with spf protection? I have a friend with cancer at the moment and she is struggling with the scent in cosmetics, even lipstick… Any suggestions would be most helpful :)

      Hi Li!

I have been doing some research for you, asking around. Now I think there are actually quite a few scentless products around but withan SPF is harder to find. Since I was at a Body Shop event, they are on my mind so I have had a look on their website and the only one that has NO fragrance and SPF is: Aloe Soothing Moisture Lotion SPF 15 (£9.75) in a squeezy tube. Mario Badescu Oil Free Moisturizer is scentless and has SPF17 (I quite like this but its not for very dry skin). The other ones contain scent. Let me do more research and get back to you, I am sure there are plenty more out there but not high street brands.

As for foundation and things, mineral make up is usually quite safe, also I was told Nars Foundations have no scent in them at all – there’s also SPF in a few of the bases.
