Apivita are a holistic beauty brand that hails from Greece – the range is pretty huge and they cover all kinds hair and skincare as well as sun protection and kids products.

The range centres on nature and uses all kinds of natural ingredients like Bee products and Greek herbs.  They avoid parabens, silicone, mineral oil, propylene glycol etc in their products.

I was sent a selection of products to try (and I will get round to reviewing more products later). First of all, I tried out the Wine Elixir range:

Apivita Wine Elixir Review

The Wine Elixir range is an anti-aging range.  It uses a green tea infusion instead of water, beeswax and red wine essence (which is also very popular in Asian skincare).

The Wine Elixir range comes in recycled boxes – it looks expensive but organic at the same time! The products come in heavy glass jars.

I have the firming day cream (SPF15) 87% natural, Anti Wrinkle and firming night cream (93% natural) and Anti Wrinkle Eye & Lip Cream (94% natural). I like how Apivita work out what percentage of their product is natural and clearly mark out what the ingredients are.

The wine elixir range includes:

  • Red wine reduces the number, depth and length of even the deepest wrinkles
  • Lupine and beeswax firm the skin and improve its texture and elasticity
  • Natural plant oils, oat and lecithin intensively hydrate and nourish the skin
  • Enriched with neroli, patchouli, clary sage and geranium essential oils, this cream tones the skin and provides a sense of well-being

My skin type at the moment is very dry, sensitive and I am prone to the odd flare ups.  I used this cream a good few months ago over a period of 12 weeks.

The texture of the creams are very very interesting indeed. They almost remind me of what a clay mask would be like, except they don’t sit on the skin, they sink in quickly and leave quite a springy feeling on the skin.  The creams are all very similar in colour, in smell and are only different when it comes to texture.

The day cream is medium thick – you can really feel the wax base in it and it works well on very dry skin.  The night cream is even richer and thicker and the eye and lip cream is the lightest in texture.

Now – remember this is for dry skin types and mature skin. I actually found this when used together, a tad too rich – I wondered if my mini breakouts were caused by this (I didn’t have any discomfort like itching but found a I had a few little white spots which I can get if a product is too rich).  Bear in mind my skin was dry when using this so I would say you want to have very very dry skin to use this range or at least, don’t use the day and night cream together.

On the positive side, my skin felt soft and very bouncy when using this range. I am not very wrinkly to be honest but this does seem to plump up the skin.

Apivita Wine Elixir 2

This is my first experience of Apivita, and I did like the range very much although I graduated to using one of the creams alone rather than both together due to my pores feeling a little blocked.

The Apivita range itself looks amazing though! I’d be tempted to dry a lighter skincare range of theirs at some point and their suncare as it’s hard to find SPF that doesn’t make my skin come out in a rash. The price range is medium to pricey – each of the wine elixir products are around 39 euros so it’s not cheap but the ingredients they use I think justifies the price – they really don’t put any crap into their stuff.

Check out the range here.
