I don’t really look to drugstore / high street brands for mascara, maybe because I know they don’t tend to work for my lashes.

But it’s nice to try them out sometimes! Here I have Maybelline The Falsies Mascara:

The Falsies Mascara delivers a false lash look; giving you a full set of voluminous, bold, fanned out lashes and the appearance of no gaps from any angle.

The Pro-Keratin and Fibre enriched formula is designed to deliver immediate results, distributing volume and visible intensity to your lashes. The patented ‘Spoon’ shaped brush helps fan lashes out.

I do wish companies would stop using ridiculous lash inserts for their adverts though. It’s kind of embarassing…anyway the Falsies! Here is the brush:It’s curved and quite a big brush – from the side:

From the front it’s extremely wide – I think this would work well with long lashes but it’s tricky for people with shorter lashes like me, because it tends to get on the eyelid.

Two light coats. I think this adds length but not so much volume:

I don’t think it does a terrible job with curl but it doesn’t enhance it. Also, I think it’s a bit bitty, on me anyway.

See how it’s all weird at the ends? I get this a lot with lengthening mascaras, usually the ones that have fibers, but I’m not even sure if this one has that?! Hmmm.

Verdict:

This isn’t a bad product but it’s not great either – I wouldn’t recommended it in particular for lashes like mine, I think their Volume Express regular mascara is better than this.

I love this stuff, but I know a lot of people just don’t get the fuss with Maybelline mascaras so it really must have to do with the texture of the lashes themselves. I don’t get any of that bittiness but I do need to watch how I apply it (especially on bottom lashes) because the brush is so wide.

The only prob with this is it goes dry very quickly so is only good if you use it up fast. I wear tonnes of mascara so that’s never a prob for me!

Hi Gemma

I wish some of my mascara’s would dry up so they’d stop staring at my making me feel guilty for having some many once used products!

This brush is like XXXXXLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL I don’t know how you cope!

I TOTALLY agree with the whole “lash inserts” thing.
It’s obviously fake and shouldn’t they be honest and proud to present their product properly?????

I have similar lashes to yours (Thanks to my Asian mama) and I actually like wearing this. The only problem I’ve found is that it takes a long time to dry. i applied a couple of coats (OK, Four or five…I really like big lashes!) and for like five minutes after, i still kept getting mascara smudges on my lower eye lid! And that was from the top lashes, not the bottom ones. Good thing I had baby wipes on me.

Hi Aseya!

Yeah I don’t think it’s the worse mascara by any means :D But I noticed I get dotting too not that it holds enough curl though :(

Lash inheritence is an interesting thing. My other half has ridiculously long white boy lashes I have short stubby asian ones. What do my kids get?!
