So a little while ago I was watching QVC and got sucked into order a Special Value Kit from Mally.

As far as I know, Mally is a cosmetics range that is only sold officially on QVC (in the UK) and is headed by make up artist Mally Roncal (think Kimora Lee with lighter hair).  If you watch her on QVC she is very loud and bubbly, in a slightly scary way. Anyway I ordered a set which included a bag, and a few of their bestselling items like the Face Defender Blush, Evercolour Poreless Face Defender, Lip Gloss, Mascara, Eye Crayon etc.

I can’t remember how much I paid for this set, I think it was in the late £30s.  First off let me start with the pouch it comes with – this metallic silver over the body type bag which I have to say, I would never ever use.  However there is a problem – it stinks of FISH. Serious.

I aired it for a while to see if the stink would go but it doesn’t – I presume it is because the bag contains some kind of plastic content which makes it smell this way but it really really really stinks.

Now the make up that came with the set fairs better because it doesn’t stink!

The Face Defender Blush in Pink Perfection is nice, a creamy powder texture (although they made it look like a cream on the show so I was a tad disappointed). Overall though, it’s nice enough and you get a good amount of product.

The Evercolor Poreless Face Defender is a clear powder (don’t call it a powder!!!) – erm, setting type product.  Now – on the show Mally kept saying this was the first product of it’s kind over and over which annoyed me (I felt like phoning up and saying erm, what about Suqqu?)

Despite my annoyance this is actually a pretty good product – it’s transparent so you can’t necessarily tell where you apply it other than you see a dulling of the shine! I like as it’s natural and this, at £34 is not cheap but is cheaper than Suqqu which didn’t quite work for me.

You also get an automatic eye pencil in a plummy colour with this (average), an eye crayon in a taupe plum shade (quite nice but creases), a lip gloss (flirty) in a pink with gold pearl which is pretty but for some really weird reason it made my lips drier (it’s a gloss too!).

Finally there is the mascara which I reviewed here.

Overall, whilst there are some nice bits, it’s one of those hauls where you look at everything afterwards and think…why…did I buy….all of this?!?!

QVC has a great returns policy though, where you can send it back if you don’t like it but unfortunately I left it too late to return! Ah well, at least the option was there!

I still can’t get over the fishy bag though!

Have you bought anything wacky recently?!

Hey!

I bought this as a TSV too, and although I liked the lipgloss and the blusher the rest really let it down and that bag and the smell was dreadful so I just had to send it back and get a refund.

I am not overly impressed with the hype surrounding Mally’s makeup range so when I know she’s on the TV I switch off!!

Pleased I wasn’t the only one who didn’t like this.

I’m actually a bit of a Mally fan – I really love he slightly scary personality lol she literally makes me laugh out loud – I love the concealer, the lip gloss and the mascara from her line – Just a thought try filling the a bit of cat litter, some washing powder or bicarb they usually absorb odours pretty well
