I was sent this pressed powder to try out last week from Sleek MakeUP. They seem to be on a roll lately, new product after new product, but I’m not complaining.

This pressed powder (how old school!) has a SPF 15 and once again, comes in a sturdy, slick palette. For a drugstore brand, Sleek have got the packaging down to a fine art – its not that nasty plastic and its heavy enough to feel sturdy.

I got this in Shade 02 and before opening it, I thought it would be too light – but maybe because the brand was created originally for darker skins in mind, Shade 02 is actually quite dark:

Its fine for my NC35 skin, quite warming.

As for the powder itself – its not the finest milled powder I have ever seen. But remember that I am comparing it to the powders I have currently have in my collection – Armani, Cle De Peau, Suqqu, La Mer, Dior etc. All very high end powders that cost 6 times more.

This powder is a reasonable £5.99. Shade 02 has a fine shimmer to it – I am fine with this but bear it mind you won’t get a perfectly Matte finish to your skin.

It comes with a little sponge that is ok for touch ups but I would prefer to use a brush with it.

Verdict:

Its a decent little powder for sure and if you have darker skin (olive, Asian, black) you will find this range extremely accessible. There is a sparkly element to it but to be honest I found it to be quite flattering (other powders like La Mer, Armani also have that sparkle).

I also find drugstore face powders pretty nasty (I HATE cakey skin) and this didn’t leave my skin cakey so can’t say fairer than that. You will have to see what colours they have in for fairer skins tho (if you have fairer skin!).

Thanks for this, I have a friend with the oddest skin-tone I’ve ever seen (Half greek, half-black) and this looks like it would make a great highlighting powder for her :) Chirstmas present sorted!
