Review: Lavera fake tan

June 14, 2009 |

So I have brought it on myself to test a number of fake tans since were officially in the Summer (I am guessing) and fake tan is a way of life for many many ladies.

Let me tell you why I am not a fan. It looks orange. It doesn’t look orange to you. But 99% it looks orange to me. You don’t care what I think about your tan anyway but I am just saying that it looks orange. It may only be a faint gentle tangerine hue as opposed to wild depths of hell fiery sunset orange, but it is still orange.

Nevertheless with a relatively open mind I have started to test fake tans. They smell too don’t they? Hmmm.

Lavera’s fake tan gets brownie points because it is a natural, vegan friendly alternative to other fake tans.

Lavera Skin Care Lavera Self Tanning Lotion. Natural Organic SPF and Self Tan.jpg

They say:

Lavera Sun Sensitive Self Tanning Lotion creates a natural looking tan without the risks of sun damage or toxic chemicals.

This natural lotion tans the skin with 100% pure and natural plant derived active ingredients and is suitable for use on both the face and the body. Organic Plant Essences and Organic Aloe Vera Gel moisturise the skin leaving it firm, smooth and soft. Vitamin E and Green Tea give extra nourishment to the skin for a naturally tanned look.

The ingredients (viewable if you click the read more at the bottom of this review) seem pretty natural. I tried this out on my legs and sre enough within 4-5 hours they had developed into a tan colour – orangeness – not too bad actually. I wouldn’t be ashamed using this one. It wasn’t to drying (I find a lot of fake tans to be drying on the skin). No noticeable streaks.

It definately still smells like fake tan – shame I was hoping it would have some essential oil or something to make it smell less tan-like.

It lasted about 3 days, its not difficult to use, it is quite full on for a novice like me, but if you want a proper organic alternative to high street fake tans this is a good choice. Its also a reasonable price as you get quite a lot.

It was £11.50 from here for 150ml.
