It’s Monday, Monday, so let’s start the week with a BANG!
And that bang is a hot red lipstick from Elizabeth Arden’s Ceramide Ultra Range. This lipstick provides a pigmented finish with moisturising colour. It also plumps the lips and leaves a shiny finish. It also contains Tahtian Gardenia, Shea Butter and vitamins A, C and E.
The truth is I haven’t used Elizabeth Arden products for a while (apart from 8 Hour cream) so I’m pleased to revisit the range! Elizabeth Arden for me is more on an old school brand, like Estee Lauder, who I imagine has it’s die-hard fans. The packaging is this gold, with what looks like a door pattern (you know the Red Door?!).
It’s a heavyweight lipstick and it’s nice enough to whip out in a restaurant (although I never actually reapply lipstick – do you?).
My shade is Rouge which is Red! There’s quite a large selection of colours, natural and bold.
Rouge is one of those classic reds – I would say it’s more orangey than blue. The texture of this lipstick is lovely, very creamy and pigmented but not quite as rich as say, YSL Rouge Volupte – which is a good thing where these bold colours are concerned.
I do love a good red although I wouldn’t wear it that often! I think this is what I’d called a really full bodied red – it’s very classic and is one of those shades I can imagine Catherine Zeta Jones wearing (and she is their spokesperson!).
On the lips – it does really plump out the lips and hydrate – I hate drying red lipsticks! What’s the point!?
All in all I do like the texture of this lipstick a lot, it packs a punch so I’d investigate one of the more natural shades next.
These cost £18 each from anywhere there is a Elizabeth Arden counter (ie. Debenhams, Boots).

Nice colour! texture looks great too. Like you, I haven’t used this brand for ages. Might be a good time to actually investigate again. x
