I was sent this shadow line product to try a while ago but only just recently had the chance to play with it.
Similar to Too Faced Liquif-Eye Shadow Transformer, this little tube contains a milky liquid which promises to transform any eyeshadow into a liquid eyeliner!
The pen nib is quite firm (I prefer slightly softer nibs so I can really move the brush about, but its not bad to use). As its solvent based I was worried about it stinging my eyes but I didn’t have any allergies.
They say:
For a more intense colour our make-up artist Leanne Shaw recommends making a paste on the back of your hand by scooping up a little more shadow with the wand, wipe onto back of hand and dip the wand into the shadowline solvent several times to mix with the shadow – this gives a thicker consistency and makes the colour stronger.
So here is my shadow of choice – a blue eyeshadow from Shu Uemura:
Now to convert it:
My shadowline didn’t come with instructions but from the site, it looks like you can put the powder on to your hand first then keep dipping the pen into powder.
I directly dipped mine into the powder until it was nicely covered:
Here is the result – I did it in about 2 sweeps, its a nice opaque line although this also depends on the eyeshadow you are using.
Pros:
It was quite effective at doing a nice strong line!
Cons:
The nib stains – which is annoying if you are a bit mental about keeping your make up clean like I am.
The pen feels a little dry – you have to redip if you want to get a nice, wet line to apply (which I think is easier than something too dry) – so you end up contaminating the pot a bit.
Verdict:
Well worth trying if you want a cheap way of getting lots of differerent coloured eyeliners although you can also try mixing mediums or some glycerine mixed with water.
You can buy it here for £6.95. Too Faced Liquif-Eye Shadow Transformer is about £12 so I guess the Frontcover is almost half the price.

i use BE’s weather everything liner sealer for this purpose and it works well for me. it’s a water-like liquid product contained in a bottle similar to an eye dropper (hehe, i’m sure you’ve seen it ). what i don’t like about it is that it tends to give off a plastic kind of finish, but it doesn’t apply any of the cons you mentioned for this product
this one looks like it gives off a matte finish, am i right?

Hi Sunmom
I have BE’s weather everything but not had much time to use it much. The problem with that for me is it has to mixed in a dish or something – not a huge problem but not when I’m in a rush in the mornings!
