Lips of the Day: Dolce & Gabbana Lipstick In Devil (Red Cream)

March 26, 2010 |

I went nuts of Dolce & Gabbana make up when it was first launched in the UK – since then my interest has subsided. I’d still like to see what collections they come up with though, cos its a really nice looking brand.

I got this red lipstick from Dolce & Gabbana a while ago – its a creamy rich red like…the Devil. The packaging is this lovely gold case which also gets lots of greasy finger marks on it.

Oh shiny packaging. You deserve someone who doesn’t snack on crisps all the time.

The lipstick has a lightly perfumed scent – its quite nice and the texture is very rich very creamy. On me I’d say its more of an orange red than a blue red (which I prefer anyway).

It is very creamy though – I didn’t use lip liner in my lip swatch but I am guessing you would need it with such a strong colour otherwise you’ll look slightly like a mental patient.*

*A mental patient with excellent taste in lipstick.

Here is the swatch:

Its glossy, its creamy, I do like it and I would try some other shades perhaps in more wearable day to day colours. I didn’t experience an dryness but this lip colour will need a bit of care I think, it doesn’t feel 100% safe on my lips.

I wish I had normal coloured lips. On mine, it pulls slightly more scarlet (my lips are a pale mauve corpse shade, which makes all lipsticks seem more blue.) Beautiful colour, bleeds like no-one’s business without a liner though. (I did indeed look very Whatever Happened to Baby Jane the day I wore it without one.)
