To be honest I haven’t bought anything from Illamasqua for a while. Maybe its because it’s quite dark and brooding and I’ve been in the mood for princessy and light packaging lately!
However – I was sent three products from the Illamasqua ‘Theatre of the Nameless’ collection to try. I hadn’t seen the collection so I didn’t have a clue what to expect.
Nail Polish in Kink £13.50, Blusher in Ambition £16.50 and Precision Ink in Havoc.
First off, I was excited to see the nail polish they sent me was Kink, a deep green. I’ve had a thing for greens lately but something that’s wearable day to day.
This polish is supposed to have a ‘rubber finish’:
I’m not the best at talking about nail polishes – to me it looks like a semi matte finish which is quite nice although the colour doesn’t speak to me the way I thought it would once applied. I had to use two coats and it still didn’t look as even as I like – I am very fussy about polish application, one of the reasons I rarely wear it because if it isn’t perfect, I take it off.
It wasn’t my favourite thing at all.
The powder blusher Ambition just seemed like a neutral rose pink with sparkle:
I just don’t feel blushers that much and I tend to go for oranges. However – this is super lovely. It’s got this neutral edge to it and sparkles that are multi coloured. It’s highly pigmented – I had a cheek accident with this – so you just need a tiny bit.
Swatched:
For me this is a shade I can wear regularly and the sparkle isn’t horrible or too obvious. It also doesn’t seem to highlight pores.
This picture shows that micro sparkles – don’t clone my fingerprint:
Precision Inks – I love purple eyeliner at the moment, I love By Terry’s vivid colour! Havoc is a dulled aubergine. It doesn’t look black, but it’s a very dull brown-purple. It isn’t one of those shades you see and feel like you must have, but it is very nice and nice for every day use.
Also – I love love love the sponge tip applicator – makes it super easy to apply – literally seconds in the morning and the texture is very smooth, not too thick, not too runny and lasts all day. An excellent liquid eyeliner:
The only thing I noticed about this is that when you take it off it crumbles off which means you have to be careful not to get bits in your eye. I will definitely look for this in more shades if and when I actually finish a liquid liner!
Overall surprising hits from the Theatre of the Nameless collection. The blush and precision ink I think are fab.
See the Illamasqua Theatre of the Nameless collection!
