Lash treatments? I’ve had them all! Lash perms, last extensions, lash tints. I must admit that after a while it becomes tiresome because all lash treatments inevitably, require a fair amount of maintaince. Of course, each persons level of acceptable maintanece if different to anothers; my willingness to get top up treatments for anything besides hair, is low.
Having said that it had been a while since I had lash extensions, so I was quite excited to be invited in for a treatment with the lovely Asma Docrat of Boudoir Lashes who has a space at the rather gorgeous Becca store in Kensington.
Asma has studied a range of beauty therapies over several years and found her passion in lash extensions. She offers a selection of treatments, and I had a 90 minute one called The Volume Effect.
The process of this lash extension treatment was similar to others; surgical tape was applied over my lower lashes to protect them (I always find this a tad uncomfortable, no matter who does it) then some under eye masks are applied before the process starts.
Asma used a mixture of lengths and a fairly full volume textured lash. She was very merticulous with the application and it didn’t feel uncomfortable or unsure at any time.
Lash Extensions really are a skill; I’ve seen some really awful ones in my time and if you think about it having ths skill to stick something like a lash on to another lash without it looking horrible or damaging the eyes is a real talent and takes a lot of practise.
I’ll cut to the end of the treatment and the results. The photos are from a day after the treatment when I got home.
Asma decided to pick random lengths and curled lashes so that my fine, straight lashes would be given a lifted appearance.
You can see the lashes aren’t lying flat. NOW – the lashes did look straighter when I first got them done but I can only assume my lashes naturally grow in random directions hence they looked quite tangly. I did and do use a lash brush to give them a straighten but trust me, they want to lie this way and I don’t have all the time in the world to keep brushing them.

Pros:
Asma is just lovely and makes the time fly by
Very efficient treatment, no jabbing or pain involved
A very volumised lash look, definitely a lot longer and thicker than my natural lashes
Nice surroundings at the Becca store!
Cons:
The only real con I can think of is that the lashes feel a little coarse to me. They’re not as coarse as the ones I had at flutter which actually murdered my natural lashes by the time they were ready to drop out, but they do with all honestly feel somewhat crunchy to me and that over this last week has left my eyes a little irritated. I think a finer, softer lash would suit my type of lashes more – I guess this is more about the lash used itself as opposed to the application.
Verdict:
It’s always a nice treat to get lash extensions if you are willing to pay a decent price and can live with the upkeep then it’s for you.

Let me know how you get on in a couple of weeks – I’ve had extensions before and lost half my lashes!

What a good idea. Then we don’t have to fuss around with mascara. Hm…

The extensions are single strands of synthetic eyelashes that are curved to replicate a natural eyelash. They provide length and thickness to your own lashes and are available in varying lengths and thickness. They are applied to your individual eyelashes, one lash at a time. There is no need for mascara even though a water based mascara is fine to use. The result is thicker, longer, eye opening eyelashes that are safe in the shower, while swimming, sleeping or exercising.
