If there’s one thing I really love testing it’s foundation! Cheap or expensive, thick or runny – I love the prospect of possibly finding the foundations - to rule them all.
Now this foundation I have had for quite a while, so I guess I’ve given it a good test throughout winter and spring! It is one hell of a name: ByTerry Cover Expert Perfecting Fluid Foundation Ultra Correcting Coverage Flawless Velvet Radiance. Ok?! Remember that?!
They say:
With the futuristic I.M.C® Technology (Intensive Mimetic Camouflage, this professional multi-active, ultra-lifting foundation auto-adjusts to the skin and offers optimal coverage for a unified complexion with a natural and velvety finish.
COVER-EXPERT instantly conceals all types of imperfections and signs of fatigue, with no thickness or “mask” effect.
I have never tried a ByTerry base product before – these are expensive, after all!
I was matched to shade 10 which looks fairly dark and it does leave me with a slightly warmer skintone but I like it.
It comes in a simple tube:
First off, it does not smell of roses! I know! ByTerry is famous for it’s Rose products but this smells almost slightly medicinal to me. I don’t mind it at all, but it’s something to bear in mind.
The texture is a thick liquid – so it’s quite hydrating I found and leaves a dewy finish. I used this religiously over the winter because I absolutely LOVED the finish – my skin looks so glowy and soft when I use this base. I also found it wore well in the dry weather, without sticking to my flaky bits! It also conceals well, I found my redness had gone with one layer although I needed a separate eye concealer.
The only issue I had with this base is as it’s become warmer I find it wears less well – it is more likely to leave me with an oilier finish as the day goes on. I guess this product is particularly good for drier skins and in cooler weather (for me at least). I do really adore the finish though, so I’ve stopped using it for now and will bring it back out again when it’s cold.
On me:
This is not cheap – ByTerry never is, but I’ve had pricier! It’s £44 and you can buy it from SpaceNK.
What do you think of this base?
