Without even realising it, I have tried quite a few Bourjois foundations!
I have tried: Bourjois Bio Detox, Flower Foundation, 123 Perfect, Mineral Matte, Sleep Effect…lots of them!
I haven’t, until now, tried one of the best selling and most popular Bourjois bases – Healthy Mix! I purchased this when there was a 3 for 2 at Superdrug:
I was choosing between this foundation and the Healthy Mix Serum, which is the newer version. Apparently the serum is better for oily skins so being dry I went for the original base. I think I got shade 54 – I don’t have a problem matching with Bourjois, 54/56 seem to work work on my skintone.
They say:
A flawless, luminous complexion for up to 16hrs. Fruit therapy for radiant boosted skin. Anti-dull complexion range.
Apricot -> Radiance, Melon -> Hydration, Apple -> Antioxidant, Ginger -> Energy
I have been using this daily for the last 3 weeks and I am glad I gave it a chance because I didn’t immediately fall for it.
My first few uses I didn’t feel that it offered decent coverage; my pores looked magnified because it has this glowy texture to it and I felt like it made my skin look bumpy. As my skin improved in hydration, this foundation changed with it and now works very nicely.
It is a liquid – not too runny, not to thick. A good texture:
I rarely need concealer after applying a foundation (apart from under the eyes) and this one covers pretty well. It covered freckles well, and redness too although it takes a little while to settle into the skin – I don’t know it looks a bit oily at first but give it a few minutes and it just looks quite glowy.
I do think it helps with skin condition – I’ve had no allergies to it and keeps everything dewy and fresh. Bear in mind my skin is very very dry at the moment and maybe that’s why it works well – if you are oily I don’t think you’d appreciate the texture.
This smells GORGEOUS – very fruity and I usually hate fragrance in my base.
Last for 16 hours? Erm no. It will stay put quite well when I am work, so give it 9 hours but redness will break through.
The finish is pretty decent – it’s glowy without being too oily as I found with Sleep Effect BUT – if I am being really really really picky it still isn’t as RADIANT as I’d like. The only foundations I can think of that make me radiant and last are Diorskin Nude and RMK Creamy Foundation. But they are 3 times the cost so, this is really not a bad option if you want quite a fresh feeling, glowy base.
What do you think of Healthy Mix Foundation?
