When I saw this mascara brush I was excited…very excited…a square brush! Say it with me…

I – AM – A – ROBOT.

Boots No. 7′s new mascara launch for August the 12th is Extravagant Lashes Mascara (in Black, Black/Brown and Blut).

The brush is interesting! This mascara promises a dramatic curling effect for up to 8 hours and volume.

Voila!:

Hmm the brush sure looks more exciting when its pink.

The test! My eye no mascara (I sure look tired. If anyone wants to adopt me so I can sleep in all day, I cost £3.25 a day to run, give or take a few pence)

The brush – yah, its HUGE!

Now the brush – what I noticed is that it reduces the amount of mascara mess you get on your lids, especially for short lashes girls like me. It also deposits quite a generous coat of mascara, and isn’t too bad to apply.

However since the reservoirs on the brush are wide compared to that of a bristle brush, its going to leave a thicker layer than some people are used to.

After one coat:

Ok. It didn’t hold curl at all. The mascara itself is a very rich, heavy texture – reminds me of L’oreal Voluminous and YSL Faux Cils and therefore by its very nature, is not going to hold/enhance curl.

As you can see, the volume and length are dramatically different but I personally need a mascara which holds curl (and there aren’t that many, Japanese or not).

Verdict: This will work best for girls that already have some curl to the lash, and longer lashed friends that don’t have issues with heavy mascaras. It is very dramatic – I’d love to see the brush is a smaller, easier to control form.

Hi,
Have you tried shiseido makeup mascara base?
I use that one and it really help to hold the curl. I also have short , straight and stubborn lashes. I tried a lot of mascaras and only a few japanese mascaras worked on me (shu uemura mascaras). I heard about this and tried. oh mine..which this i can wear any type of mascaras cause i do not need to worry about not holding curl. =] if you have not tried out.. you should!!

I know exactly what you mean, my (Chinese) lashes are stick-straight and absolutely impossible to curl. I haven’t found a mascara that holds curls perfectly, but Kiss Me Heroine Mascara (from adambeauty) comes pretty close. It’s Japanese, so I suppose it’s made for Asian stick lashes.. You should check out the reviews on makeupalley :)

My holy grail mascara is the shu uemura precise volume! IT HOLDS CURL! I am not kidding, Just imagine, your lashes arealdy curled with an eyelash curler, put this on, does not even MOVE a bit, the finish is defined, thicker, shiny, curled lashes!
