I was perusing in Debenhams, a UK department store that is pretty much dead in terms of selling anything interesting but something caught my eye. A bright, orange coloured range uniquely called…Yes to Carrots!
Mention carrots and I think of big doe eyes rabbits with their buck teeth and floppy ears. Awww…how cute!
There was a rather large selection of lipbalms, some body lotion and hair conditioner (no shampoo left)! So I bought a lip balm (my lip balm collection is now just silly) and a conditioner:
Want to see more carrots?…There are 5 flavours, Carrot, Berry, Citrus, Mint and Melon. Obviously I had to get Carrot! I noticed quite impressively that all the ingredients are listed on the website!
CARROT INGREDIENTS: Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil*, Cera Alba (Beeswax)*, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Flavor, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)*, Limonene*,Tocopherol, Citral*, Linalool*, Geraniol*, Citronellol*, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis(Orange) Peel Extract*, Cucumis Melo Cantalupensis (Melon) Seed Extract*, Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Seed Extract*, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract*, Eugenol*. *Organic
All good, all good:
I want to try the lip tints!
So far so good. It is rather carroty, but quite a light, easy to use lip balm. I like the fact it is largely natural with no funny business in it.
I had a look on their website and indeed, they have shampoo! I was getting excited when I noticed that the Shampoo has my favourite irritant in it, Sodium Laureth Sulfate,…but then I noticed they have reformulated the ingredients list for ths year and it now looks like this:
These ingredients are rolling out as we speak throughout the world in 2009:
Water (Aqua), Sodium Coceth Sulfate, Magnesium Chloride, Dead Sea Water (Maris Aqua), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil, Propanediol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Daucus Carota Seed Oil, Daucus Carota Juice, Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Juice, Ipomoera Batatas (Sweet Potato) Extract, Cucumis Melo (Melon) Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Honey(Mel) Extract, Fragrance (Parfum), Algae Extracts (Rhodella, Dunaliella, Spirulina), Silt (Maris Limus), Niacinamide, Vitamin E (Tocopheryl Acetate), Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract, Benzyl Alcohol, Dehydroacetic Acid, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Peel Extract.
Sounds good to me, although I will have to remember to check the label when I buy mine to make sure I got the right one!
I actually bought the conditioner:
This is the hair mud conditioner which has dead sea mud, carrot, pumpkin, melon and lots of other fruits in it. I liked this a lot! You have to leave it for 3 mins but then it made my hair shiny and easy to manage. You also get a lot of product – for 500ml it was about £7. Organic conditioners with this kind of ingredients list normally cost a lot more:
Ingredients List
Water (Aqua), Dead Sea Water (Maris Aqua), Silt (Maris Limus), Magnesium Chloride, Chamomila Recutita (Chamomile) Extract, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Calendula Officinalis Oil, Daucus Carota (Carrot) Seed Oil, Daucus Carota (Carrot) Juice, Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Juice, Ipomoera Batatas (Sweet Potato) Extract, Cucumis Melo (Melon) Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Honey (Mel) Extract, Fragrance (Parfum), Dimethicone, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat Germ) Oil, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Cetrimonium Chloride, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Peel Extract.
I hope this range expands, its funky, affordable and so far pretty good! In the UK you can buy this online or from Debenhams.
