They say this lipstick provides:
- Weightless sensation.
- Luminous and Fresh colour
- Meltingly soft application.
- Pop of colour
- Flutter on your lips
- New sensation
- Feather light feel
Whenever a lipstick says it has a light feel or pop of colour I worry that it is yet another wishy washy super sheer lip colour that is incredibly throwaway and dull. I do honestly love my Chanel glosses and Shu Uemura lipsticks because they tend to have ‘something else’ about them that makes them pop on the lips. If I want a plain, glossy lip colour I could buy a 99p lipstick that does the same.
Anyway, here is the lipstick. Sweet Berry has no shimmers:
I think it’s a cute touch that the lids are different colours (on the top) depending on what shade you choose – so a pink shade will have a pink lid. Makes it easier to identify I guess!
Swatch – this Sweet Berry is not too plummy, which I hate, it’s quite a mauve-rose-nude shade on me at least:
Pigmentation on my hand at least seems decent. It goes on very smooth indeed and has a balm like texture.
Now – is this comparable to Revlon Lip Butters? (Review here). Hmm well…
I like both. Revlon has a thicker texture (it is a butter after all) and quite shimmery depending on the shade. The finish is different – I feel like Revlon leaves a moderately shiny, glossy, slightly gloopy finish.
L’oreal Caresse is much lighter in texture and smooths over the lips where Revlon settles a little into the lines.
Someone also compared this to Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited – it has that same water shine finish which is gorgeous. Shu’s shades have more depth to them and are more interesting BUT it is far more expensive and the packaging always cracks over time. It is also a sloppier texture whereas L’oreal’s holds it’s shape because it’s a harder lipstick.
Anyway here is the lip swatch – it covers lines beautifully, it has a nice amount of pigment, a light texture and smoothness to it – it actually stays on really well, I can feel it on my lips for a good 5 hours or so.
Yes, this is a winner from L’oreal.
Look out for 3 for 2 offers! Boots and Superdrug always have them going on! I will definitely buy more of these when I need a new lipstick (probably never then, hehe!).
You can buy the lipstick from Boots (£7.99) and other L’oreal stockists.
What do you think of L’oreal Rouge Caresse?
