For Fall, Chanel launched the Venise de Chanel collection and the one item that caught my eye was the Limited Edition Eye Gloss Quad:
They say: This quartet of gel-cream shades – pearl, gold, black and red black – delivers a subtle luminous sheen that blends beautifully, from sheer to intense
The weird colour in this quad is the red – I can see why it reflects the Venice theme, I just wish it was a shimmery blue or green instead:
This was pretty steep price wise, at £38.50…I had been considering buying the Dior Jazz Club compact (which is £44 and comes with eyeshadow, brow powder, cream liner) but chose the Chanel instead…was this a good choice?
Texture
The texture of these eye glosses are as described – not quite a cream, not quite a gel. Quite firm for an eyegloss, easy to apply and a tad sticky. No problems spreading it into the skin though.
Pigmentation
For eye glosses, I think they are very pigmented, and can be layered (especially the black) to really build up colour.
The effect is a rock chick type glossy look with lots of shine:
Durability
This is an eye gloss, and no eye gloss was meant to stay creaseless – beware if you can’t cope with this. Within a few minutes of application I had this:
It’s going to happen with an eyegloss, primer or not.
Colours
The black is perfect and the white and gold are also nice shades – the red is more wearable than I thought it would be, its almost a very dark plummy burgundy. Still not an everyday shade of course, but then eye gloss isn’t an everyday thing. I would have still preferred something from the blue or green or brown family tree instead.
Value
This is expensive – I thought it would be more about £30 as opposed to £38.50. Its limited edition, its pretty unusual so I guess its a collectors item for Chanel fans like me.
Also…
I got some of this in my eye and boy did it sting – its a bit sticky too remember so it was painful and sticky. Bloodshot eyes all around!
Verdict
Buy if you like eye glosses (I do), don’t mind a high maintenance look, or just collect Chanel. It’s not for everyone and not the wisest make up purchase you can make….luckily, I’m not wise.

It sounds tempting but it might look oily on me. And I can’t figure out when I’ll be able to use the red one. But I’m willing to try the gold. Thanks for the review.

Hey Eka
Oh yes it does look oily – good point actually, if you tend to get oily in the day then you have oily lids you’ll just look like disco ball! The gold is nice as is the white the red is….hard to wear
