The nice people at Barry M sent me one of their new blushers to try – there are 6 in the range and I chose Apricot since I love my peaches.

The other shades are quite self explanatory colours – Pink Orchid (lightest pink), Rose, Strawberry, Terracotta and Raspberry.

Barry M make great loose eyeshadows and lipsticks, especially for the price. Are they any good at blush? Firstly –

Packaging

Shall we just get the packaging bit over?…….

The packaging is….in the words of Bambi (or was it that obnoxious rabbit, Thumper?) if you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all.

But I have to say something that my job here.

Its plastic, its cheap looking, it reminds me of the very first cosmetic items I owned from *spits* Constance Carroll that I used to buy from the Chemist when picking up my prescriptions with my mum. The brush is also a bit naff.

If in doubt with packaging, beauty brands, make it black, make it opaque, make it easy to wipe. (Elf Studio is a good example of a cheap brand that looks sleek).

But gawd, don’t put a pretty blush in a plastic, perfectly square (too angular) case thats got a clear lid. Please. Now, lets put that in a box (as my therapist would say) and move on to:

Texture

The texture of this brush is very nice – its soft and easy to blend – infact it blends away beautifully. Apricot is more of a shocking orange than a soft peach orange (reminds me of Exhibit A from Nars with a little less red). Its not madly creamy though – its certainly an excellent, non chalky blusher but its not anywhere near a soft, creamy Nars blush.

Pigment

Infact, all of the colours from the Barry M range look a little shocking in their pans, but if they blend out the way this one does then its not a problem – adds quite a funky punch to the face if you ask me!

They didn’t put any glitter or much shimmer in this blush, which is wise, since the last thing you want is a bright shade with glitter in it too.

Blended lightly:

It’s nice! It’s wearable!

When it comes to drugstore level blushers, this small range from Barry M is a good ‘un – you have to look past the packaging (depotting anyone?). Also, if you want to get a nice little make up collection together, you can get 5 of these for the price of 1 nars blusher so its definitely a good place to start!

The blushers cost £4.50 each and you can buy them here.

Ingredients:

TALC, MICA, BIS-HYDROXYETHOXYPROPYL DIMETHICONE, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, FRAGRANCE, METHYL PARABEN, PROPYL PARABEN, AMYL CINNAMAL, HEXYL CINNAMAL, LINALOOL, BUTYLPHENYL METHYLPROPIONAL [+/- CI15850:1, CI77891, CI15850:2, CI73360, CI19140:1, CI15985:1, CL77499, CI77492, CI77491]
