Me and mineral make up aren’t friends – ok, sometimes we snog but generally, we no like.
Why? Because I have dry skin, or dry patches most of the time and I hate the way powder clings. I also think liquid foundation just applies better and looks more natural.
But as always I am open to suggestions…
Then someone suggested these – Priori CoffeeBerry Perfecting Minerals Foundation and Finishing Powder:
They look like coffee beans! Or I think they do anyway.
The unique properties of the minerals, with their concealing coverage, is ideal for skin conditions such as Acne, Rosacea, Hyper-pigmentation, Broken Capillaries, Freckles, Sun Damage, Blemishes, Scars, Birthmarks, Varicose Veins and Dark Circles.Clinical results show a reduction in skin redness, dryness and an overall improvement in the appearance of your skin within 2 weeks.
Ok, so this is supposed to be a treatment and foundation in one! Geddit?!…
First off I noticed a packaging flaw – the sticky plastic that covers the sifter (now this could just be mine that were like this) clung on to the plastic like mad. I had to really really yank it to get it off and then it left a sticky residue – not good when you’re using that same surface for a powder product!
On to the foundation.
There are 5 shades to choose from, I chose shade 03 which is a fab natural match for me:
The finishing touch powder is there to minimise shine and set the mineral foundation.
I always used to wonder what the point of setting powder with powder was – I still kind of think that but I have to say this Priori Finishing Touch has a totally different feel to the foundation (a lighter texture, no coverage, mattifies the skin etc.) and I think is a great addition if you have oily skin.
I did the usual thing of putting this foundation into the lid the swirling the product with a kabuki brush then buffing it into the skin. I really like the result! It added a nice glow to my face and it was almost a bit ‘liquidy’ feeling in that my skin felt hydrated:
It is good for pore coverage and also redness.
With the finishing powder (which is a weird pale pink shade – don’t worry though it’s pretty much translucent)…
With the finishing powder on top of the foundation:
I think you can see some of the shine has been taken off but not too much and there is still some glow. I like the finishing powder! I’ve been using it on top of my regular base too, it doesn’t make my face itchy at all.
Verdict:
At £32 each I think this mineral make up is expensive, but then again, I haven’t tried anything cheaper which I like as much as this so I guess you get what you pay for.
If it has benefits for the skin – even better!
I am also happy with the texture, ease of application and finish. I have been using this (not every day) when in a mega rush and it’s certainly a quick way to get rid of redness and get half even skin to face the world with.
I’ve noticed you can buy the base here (UK site – I am not affiliated with them in any way!).

Hi, Great reveiw I’ve just purchased the priori foundation – and was looking for what others thought. Haven’t tried it yet.. so hoping I like the results. I did notice your comment regarding the packaging flaw – so I checked the instructions before opening mine and noticed that it says NOT to peel off the plastic – just to use a pin (I used a toothpick) and make a few holes enough to suit how much powder you want to come out.
