In case you didn’t know, Illamasqua launched their latest collection, entitled Body Electrics a few days ago.

The imagery from this collection is stunning; fantasy like and dreamy:

I received a totally unexpected but lovely parcel from Illamasqua containing two of the products from the Body Electrics collection – the Illumie Body Oil in Pulse, which is a gold, glitter infused dry body oil:

This oil has a bit of a jelly texture thing going on inside the jar. I have a few dry body oils (love them, especially if they smell of Monoi) but none with a slightly jellyish texture!

Most of them are solid when its cold and melt when its warm. This one needs no such nuturing:

Once on the skin it becomes the dry oil which separates a little from the gold particles.

Rub it into the skin:

And the effect is not garish at all, its quite subtle with a fine shimmer – I don’t know if you can see the gold bits on my skin, but its there! It leaves more of a glitter shimmer on the skin than a ‘bronzed’ look.

Honestly? Its a lovely product (there’s also one called Volt which has lilac particles in it) – it rubs in quickly and feels nice. But I do think there are other alternatives out there for a little less…

I would say for a cheaper alternative, try out Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Or (about £15) or as an alternative, Nars Body Glow is EXPENSIVE but sheer heaven, or for more bronze, Scott Barnes Body Bling is really good fun!

I was also sent the Liquid Metal in Surge, a grey metal type shade. I love the idea of the liquid metals although I don’t own any (apart from in a palette). They crease though – and it seems a shame to powder over something so gorgeous.

Here is Surge:

Swatch:

Its pretty enough, and quite wearable although of course it will crease if you use too much. I’d love them to do something like a really dirty metal colour – this is fresher though and quite a nice touch for the summer.

What do you make of this collection?
