A few weeks ago I bought some new skincare from Lush and it’s all been pretty well used so here are some speed reviews of the products!
My first purchase was Angels on Bare skin. I tried this stuff years ago when it was sold in a roll and when Lush stores were hard to come by and I hated it. It was difficult to use, stung a bit and was just generally a pain in the butt.
To be fair, Angels on Bare Skin never pretended to be easy to use. A thick paste consisting mainly of crushed almonds, these days it comes in a black tub so you don’t have to balance some baking paper on your sink.
Here’s the thing – I hated it back then and I still can’t stand it now. I know it’s a classic, I know it must do well for people to keep using it but I find it time consuming, it definitely doesn’t remove my make up. It also leaves my dry spots feeling quite dry although it doesn’t irritate my skin – nevertheless it doesn’t feel hydrated afterwards.
And I really can’t stand there first thing in the morning, mixing crushed almonds with water, I just can’t. As an occasional scrub, it’s ok.
Verdict: I’ll try it again in 5 years.
This is my lovely friend, The Muse with her tutorial on how to use this:
Ingredients:
Ground Almonds (Prunus dulcis), Glycerine, Kaolin, Water (Aqua), Lavender Oil (Lavandula angustifolia), Rose Absolute (Rosa damascena), Chamomile Blue Oil (Matricaria chamomilla), Tagetes Oil (Tagetes minuta), Benzoin Resinoid (Styrax tonkinensis pierre), Lavender Flowers (Lavandula angustifolia), *Limonene, *Linalool

Yeah I hated this, it was just so messy. I’ve learned to stay away from lush at this stage. I bought their blonde shampoo bar recently and after about 6 washes – a week – its nearly gone. I won’t be repurchasing.

I loved this stuff! It really helped me when I had some nasty zits on my chin. Izzy actually had recommended it to me

Hi Rowena,
Foremost, I must say that you are one of the best beauty bloggers out there. Your reviews are a good mix of Asian and Western brands, which are very helpful indeed. Your tone, writing style, even your videos are fantastic. May I humbly say your posts have very often made my day.
On Lush’s Angels On Bare Skin, you and baby in a corner (above comment) are the only two persons I know who also dislike this product. It was messy and hard to use; totally defeats the purpose of cleaning and exfoliating. But I think the most unforgivable aspect of it was it gave me breakouts after use.
On a lighter note, hope to see more of your videos! : )
