I decided to do a haul at Bare Esventuals – the brand is starting ti break through in the UK although I haven’t tried any of their bases.
I got their brow get, a brush, prime time and eyeliner sealer.
You know I love primers! Barevitamins Prime Time Lid Primer:
They Say: Designed especially for use with bareMinerals. This silky eyelid primer is a gentle formula that goes on sheer and lightweight yet provides heavy-duty staying power for the most vibrant and lasting color. Perfect for those days when you need all-day, all-night wear. The bareMinerals-infused, smoothing base keeps excess oil from affecting wear. Gentle formula is allergy and dermatologist-tested.
I like this primer. Along with Urban Decay Primer Potion and Too Faced Shadow Insurance, this is a great primer for keeping shadows on and true all day. I like the way you can twist the product out but once it is out, it is very similar in texture to Too Faced’s product. You get 1.5 ml with this product and 10ml with UDPP, and Shadow Insurance is 11g but you get a fair amount. BE’s is the worst for value for money although it is a good little product.
Weather Everything Liner Sealer:
They Say:
It will weather everything and keep your bareMinerals liner shadow perfectly intact morning, noon and night. A few drops of this transparent solution instantly waterproofs and sets eye makeup, and turns any bareMinerals shadow into a liquid liner. It’s the secret to ever-lasting eyeliner that literally stays put until you take it off.
The thing is with this, is that you can’t stick it right into your shadow – you have to get some colour off in your brush then rub it so it becomes a liner. If you are using loose pigment it is easier to do of course and you have got the containers to mix it up. With a normal powder shadow, its a lot more difficult to do. Also I found it made the liner I used today flake like mad….this is a fail product for me. Water works better than this!
Heavenly Eyeliner Brush:
This wasn’t great either. Its good for smudging and blending but not great for application – its far too messy. The bristles spread to quickly for it to give a precise line.
Brow Gel:
Finally! This is a great product – no flaking at all and kept everything in place. At the end of the day it’s just a clear brow gel so I wouldn’t spend more than £8 for it (I got it from eBay).
All in all, a mixed haul. I don’t actually regret any of the purchases per se (apart from the liner sealer) but nothing has blown me away.
