Reader Kate emailed me, asking if I knew of a liquid foundation without petroleum products, talc, nanoparticles, lanolin, magnesium stearate, heavy metals, sodium laureth or lauryl sulfide, mineral oil or bismuth oxychloride’.
Well I like a challenge!
My first suggestion (and I may find more foundations as I go) is Lycogel.
They say: Lycogel®, the first truly breathable, completely safe camouflage and concealer products that oxygenate skin at the cellular level, and are suitable for immediate use after cosmetic procedures.
Triple silica gel technology forms the unique “breathable” matrix contained in our formula. Under magnification, the makeup appears as a breathable meshwork to allow air, moisture and ingredients to reach the skin – it’s like wearing a “second skin”. The matrix facilitates the passage of oxygen to the kin below. It has voids, or openings, that allow oxygen to be easily transmitted.
Of course this is not just for people who have just had surgery – I for one like my foundation to allow my skin to breathe.
I got the shade Caramel to try out. This foundation is quite a thick one, hence it is called a ‘camouflage’ – it is excellent for people who have acne scars or rosacea for example. It is also SPF 30 and is water resistant for 90 mins when swimming.
This foundation is heavy and quite rich – I have been using it lightly and on areas that I need coverage, and just powdering on other areas and it works pretty well. It certainly works well for redness that I have so I would really recommend people who get quite ruddy to try this one out. I also had no irritation with this product which is quite rare as most foundations make me itch.
You can buy the foundation here, I’d recommend buying the sampler to test out the shades first. It costs £49.50 (for the full size) so you need the right shade and especially because this works on targeted areas, you NEED THE RIGHT COLOUR!
I’d recommend this for people with sensitive skins, or people with redness and scarring, or people who want more coverage. Its certainly very kind to skin anyway but not a foundation for everyone.

Although Lycogel is a good product it is not the best liquid foundation on the market I did my reasearch and found that the creator of Lycogel Barry Knapp invented that foundation 10 years ago.
He has invented a new product that takes the category of post laser and peel treatment to an entirely new level. This product is called Oxygenetix. I know that the other post stated that Lycogel was heavy and I have to agree, but Oxygenetix is sooo much better and thinner.
Unlike Lycogel Oxygenetix doesn’t have is even more breatable, immeadiatly after procedure this product soothes the patients skin taking away all irritation and pain. I also found out that Lycogel contains occlusive oils and known irritants such as phenoxyethanol, preservatives, and water.

This is truley the best liquid foundation on the market
