If I could only take one make up product to hell with me, it would be concealer, probably because I value clear skin more coloured lips or long eyelashes. Hence, the search for new concealer never ends!

Origins – not a brand I’ve used in a while – has a fairly new concealer with a cute name, Quick, Hide! which is exactly my motto when the mother in law appears.

This is what they call a long wearing concealer.

They say:

Shadows, wrinkles and redness will never know what hid them. Soft-focus filters diminish fine lines and flaws. No creasing, no caking, no stuck-in-one-spot. Long-wearing. Heat and sweat resistant. Oil-free. Ophthalmologist tested.

A ha!On first appearances the concealer is nothing special – I for one haven’t owned a sponge tipped concealer in a long while and I do worry about the hygiene of using a sponge, but then I remember I’m not at high school anymore and no one can force me to share my concealer.

This concealer has many strong selling points; being of Origins, it is free from many nasties, such as parabens, mineral oil, fragrance etc:

The concealer! This is a light medium – I would’ve picked a medium for my face and a light-medium for under the eyes, so under the eyes is where will we test it!

(Shades are: Light, Light/Medium, Medium, Medium Deep, Deep, Extra Deep which is a fab selection).

Use your common sense when choosing the shades! I am NC35 and would use Medium so anyone darker should consider the medium deep).

The texture of this concealer is excellent. It’s creamy and rich without being heavy. It’s not cakey at all and sits well on the skin without settling into creases and wrinkles. Brill!

It opacity is good too – it’s not ultra extreme cover but it is in no way sheer so works perfectly for people who want to cover redness or dark circles.

Extra tired eyes and lots of circles:

Dot dot dot…I used too much here! 3 dots would do it as a little goes a long way but I actually find this quite hydrating so I guess I was adding some moisture too!

After! I think it offers great coverage and it seriously doesn’t settle into lines. Love!

Verdict:

A surprising gem from Origins and my current handbag concealer which is a position of great honour, I promise you! It works on dark circles or on blemishes and spots and the fact it doesn’t have mineral oils and parabens is a plus for me since my skin is highly sensitive.

This costs £12 and you can buy it here.

I love that Origins have come out with some colour cosmetics, I absolutely love their skincare and the fact that it’s parabens and mineral oil-free :) I’m quite surprised at the price of this as well, I was expecting it to be more expensive, but I’d say £12 was pretty reasonable for a good-quality concealer! Thanks for reviewing, will have a look next time I’m in Boots!

Hi Jen

Yes I think £12 is a good price a lot of concealers I’ve bought recently are in the £20+ mark. Seriously very good concealer, it doesn’t cake!

Thanks for the ace review, I really like the look of this concealer. I love that it’s paraben free too.

Just bought the Origins foundation from CCO to try (already hating the packaging!), but forgot to look out for this concealer! I’d definitely be happy to buy a seriously good concealer for £12, plus the girls on Origins are always super helpful and nice
