Oriflame is a new brand to me – they are similar to Avon in that you order from a local representative using their catalogue or online!
You know I love my lipsticks so I was excited as I tried out their new Triple Core Lipsticks – apparently the first of it’s kind in the world!
Gosh I remember when the first ‘moisturising core’ lipsticks came out. My mum would put it on, then I would want some and she’d say you have to kiss me to get a hint of colour! Did anyone else’s mum do this!?
They say:
With ten stunning combination shades, Triple Core delivers everything you need for your lips without compromise:
* A caring core makes the lips soft, hydrated and protected
* A colour core delivers high impact lustrous colour that lasts up to four hours
* High gloss ingredients and light-reflective microcrystal’s for dramatic sheen and sparkle
So the magic behind these lipsticks is that there is a colour rich layer, a sparkle layer and then a clear hydrating core:
Pretty funky looking! This is explosive pink, a hot rich pink:
See how the colour is not as pigmented as it looks in the tube? The pigmentation is medium with these lipsticks – you could try and apply just the outer layer for more colour but otherwise, don’t expect Rouge Volupte type coverage.
Amazing Peach was my favourite pick but it’s actually the most disappointing shade, it’s SO light:
It doesn’t look peach to me on the lips, more of a very light pinky peach shimmer. Hard to wear.
In terms of hydration these lipsticks are great. They really plump up the lips!
Blazing Red – everyone needs a red!
Once again not so pigmented. I guess the coloured layer is mixed with a clear core and a shimmery layer so the result is bound to be dilluted.
Now – one thing I didn’t like so much – the packaging. It’s sleek, it looks good but it does feel very lightweight. If the case were heavier it would feel more substantial, luxurious and sturdy.
Spectacular nude is a pretty mauve-brown nude:
This is the kind of lipstick that is really nice and easy to wear if you want a bit of everything; even coverage, bit of shimmer, bit of hydration. It’s like a pick and mix lip colour:
Please excuse my bumpy skin – this was from the sun!
Swatches:
Verdict:
These lipsticks are such a great idea and are fun to use – they’re interesting, it smells nice, it doesn’t cake or cling to dry bits.
I really like Explosive Pink and Spectacular Nude but Amazing Peach was a bit of a loss for me.
The downside is the cheap packaging and the lack of pigmentation. Truth is, they ARE pigmented in a wearable day to day way but they aren’t as rich as the swatches in the brochure makes them out to be – so don’t be disappointed by this!
