Snake venom is the next hottest thing in beauty. It is said to have similar effects to good old Botox, both being poisons ‘an all.

Planet Skincare is a range that incorporates Snake Venom into their prodcuts.

They Say:

Research and development has gone into the study and creation of what is perhaps one of the most important and effective, safe and natural compounds to ever see the light of day in the skin care, SYN-AKE®.

The power of this compound is both scientifically and clinically proven to reduce wrinkle depth quickly. SYN-AKE® is an active compound based on a synthetic tripeptide that mimics the effect of waglerin 1, a peptide that is found in the venom of the Temple Viper.

You wouldn’t think it looking at the pretty jars.

I tried out two products the Instant Firming Serum which goes under the cream.

The Serum is a blue gel:

This serum smells nice and sinks in quicky – it is free of parabens and is supposed to stimulate collage in the skin giving an immediate tightening effect.

The cream comes in a jar with a jewel on it!

I have to say – the jewel was a bit pointless. Plasticky and cheap, some diamante would have worked better.

The Anti Ageing Daily Moisturizer:

Once again sinks in great and smells nice. Some of the benefits:

# Active ingredient Syn-ake® inhibits the release of neurotransmitters which cause facial muscle tension (fine lines & wrinkles). With the muscle contracted inhibited, fine lines & wrinkles are visibly reduced.
# Visibly reduce fine lines & wrinkles in 28 days!
# 52% wrinkle reduction
# 82% smoothing effect

Itchy….

Then came a problem. My skin felt tighter and looked fine for a little while then came the itchies. I have medium sensitive skin but sometimes these anti-ageing skincare products with all their snake venoms, and acids are just a little too much for me. I couldn’t bear the itching (esp with the gel) but I didn’t want to give up on it, so I passed it on to my mama to try.

My mum also had the same problem. She has oilier and tougher skin than me but she found the gel uncomfortable to use, a strong stinging sensation so after a week went back to her Olay.

For this reason I can’t recommend a cream that made both my skin and my mamas hurt – whilst I used it I did noticing tightening but it was obviously too much for my skin.

The cream is £60 and the serum is £75 – so you know you should test it before you buy if possible, okay? It could be a fab cream just not for sensitive ladies.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

I have been using Planet Skincare for 3 years now and have found this product to be the best I have ever used. I have always suffered from ugly rosacea, I have not had an attack since using this product even when I am stressed, my skin looks healthy and moisturised. Planet Skincare are against the use of chemicals and are paraben free. They use natural ingredients so you and your mother may have an allergy to passion flower, jojoba, mango, advocado, calendular or one of the other natural ingredients in this product. I am 48 years of age and I can get away with saying that I am in my late 30′s. This product is a winner for me! It really has anti aged me! This luxury brand continues to outselll Dior and YSL on the European and American markets. It is endorsed by Doctors. So women around the world cannot be wrong.

Hi Karen

That’s fantastic that this cream works well for you. I’ve used over 100 creams of various price ranges and have yet to find one that has truly “anti-aged” me.

I am sure that many women around the world enjoy using this product – I personally found it pretty poor, it made my skin a lot worse and for the price, that makes it even worse. I don’t believe I am allergic to any of those ingredients or my mother – in fact she couldn’t tolerate this at all (it is a VERY strong product in my opinion) and passed it on to her friend who also said it made her skin sting. As I said earlier if this works for you great – but just because it outsells other high end brands that doesn’t mean that it will work for everyone – no product suits EVERYONE I am sure anyone could agree with that – so I would never recommend this to anyone who has any sensitivity and I would say with this product a tester is ESSENTIAL.
