YSL have revamped and launched their Ombre Solo Eyeshadows!

They’re now called Ombre Solo Lasting Radiance Smoothing Eyeshadows and come in 12 intense, radiant shades, divided into three major colour groups/looks; Smoky & Sexy, Fleshy Neutrals and Techincolour Fantasises.

I picked out shades from each category to see what they look like!

The packaging is gold and sleek:

They Say:

Spherical silicone powders that provide a silky feel, exceptional glide-on application and an infinitely smoothing effect. Lamellar powders with optical properties that diffuse light in all directions.

Synthesized mica that creates extremely luminous colour. Unlike natural micas that are opaque, it ensures unrivalled transparency and purity. An amino acid derivative, used as a coating to ensure comfort and hold. The colour stays true. No running, no fading. It keeps its freshly applied look.

Phew technical!

Inside the case you get two applicators, a brush and a sponge…The eyeshadow lives on the other side of the case! It’s a pretty solid case, this isn’t a Shu Uemura keeping it simple solo shadow. This one has it’s own castle!

Four shades I picked out; Midnight Black 01 – black with tons of silver micro sparkles:

Cashmere Brown 02 – A taupe brown with a slight sliver sparkle. Seriously gorgeous this one, beautiful:

Fawn 08 – A fleshy beige apricot with fine gold shimmer:

Garden of Eden 11 – A light fresh apple green with a fine blue shimmer:

I will do some FOTD’s with these shadows so you can see them in action.

But my first impressions from playing with them?

They are gorgeous. Soft, highly pigmented, they have shimmers but it’s a very fine shimmer without the fall out under your eyes. They come in a luxurious case – that’s what these eyeshadow are, a real touch of luxury, and I think some of the shades, like the brown and black can be real staples and used without any other colours.

Some of the eyeshadows and how they are divided into the different colour groups:

Smokey sexy:

N° 1 Midnight Black
N° 3 Persian Blue
N° 4 Midnight Purple
N° 5 Slate Green
N° 7 Smokey Grey

Fleshy Naturals:

N° 2 Cashmere Brown
N° 6 Pink Nude
N° 8 Fawn

Technicolor Fantasies:

N° 9 Mogador Blue
N° 1o Lunar Purple
N° 11 Garden of Eden
N° 12 Parisienne Pink

I like the YSL US swatches a lot, I think they are pretty accurate:

Slate Green and Lunar Purple look amazing and are on my shopping list!

I am seriously drooling over the colors you picked out. I love them all! I am a taupe girl though, so Cashmere Brown 02 is my favorite. Very nice! Thanks for the great swatches. I’ve never tried YSL shadows but it would be nice to have a luxury taupe in my collection.

It looks so gorgeously luxurious but I don’t think I can bring myself to buying one of these. I can’t help but think that it really is just packaging. But such beautiful packaging. n_n
