This week I am reviewing my 5 current favourite foundations!
Dior make excellent foundation, seriously, and if I am fair, I think I have more luck with their base range than I do with other high end counter brands.
Diorskin Nude is a mixture of mineral pigments with mineralized water – it’s supposed to improve your skin as well as cover flaws.
I TOTALLY got the wrong shade with the Diorskin Nude – too dark! I realised this when I read an interview in the Stylist Magazine with the gorgeous Thandie Newton and she used this shade of foundation too – it’s too dark for me (040 Honey Beige)
Luckily for me, Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Hydrating Makeup (what a mouthful!) is forgiving. What I should’ve bought was Sand 031 like with my Diorskin Forever Extreme Wear Foundation.
But then again I found 031 Sand a little on the flat edge when I tried it – and the Dior lady on the counter told me that I could cross formulas with the same shade (does that make sense?!). So if I am sand in one range, I should be sand in another!
Anyway on with this foundation. Ignoring that it is a tad too dark for me, this foundation has the nicest, light, fresh feeling ever! I guess you realise that from the name – it’s a GLOW foundation. It makes you skin look radiant…
But it does also set you you don’t like you’ve been cooking in an extremely hot kitchen.
Observe:
Within minutes:
It dries to a nice finish! (Note camera above was taken without my daylight lamps, hence it seems warmer than it actually is. I’d say the base is a TAD cooler than this IRL).
Testing it out on my face – what amazes me with this is that I wouldn’t be angry if the coverage was light, because the clue is in the name. However, I think it still offers good overall coverage, even over red areas.
Before – red skin:
After: you can see the foundation is a bit too warm for me but I think the coverage is realistic and adds a nice glow to the skin. You don’t need much either:
Colour Range:
There’s quite a decent selection on the counter – see them all on Sephora, but I do think they are a bit confusing, especially if you go off the descriptions online.
For Skin Types:
This is a hydrating liquid foundation so great for dry skins.
Texture:
Liquid with a slightly gel feeling to it. Easy to blend in.
Coverage:
Sheer to medium. It’s easy to add another layer if you need more coverage. It’s not too sheer either, like say, MAC Face & Body or MUFE Face & Body.
Durability:
It sets and lasts well, requires a bit of powder around the nose.
Glow:
Extremely glowy foundation, that’s what it’s made for!
Main Strength:
Leaving a really fresh glow on the skin.
Main Con:
I imagine this wouldn’t last long on very oily skin?
Score: 4/5
Price: £29. In line with Chanel etc.
Buy At: Boots! House of Fraser! Selfridges! Dior is sold everywhere!
