Sisley’s Légende d’Automne is not a collection of new products, but a gathering of the existing, which is quite a nice idea because if you already have products from the brand, you can no doubt find a new way of wearing it.
One of the products presented with the collection is their Phyto Lip Shine in 01 Sheer Nude:
I have a thing for high end luxury lipsticks in pretty packaging! The Lip Shine collection is a set of lipsticks with a very glossy finish. It comes in 14 shades so far and retails for £26.50 each which is expensive but not too far out there seeing as there are so many brands with £25+ lippies on offer.
They say: Sisley`s Phyto-Lip Shine is both extremely light and nourishing, with a treatment formula combining both intense gloss and absolute softness. Kokum and Mango butters help to hydrate, protect and provide comfort. Film-forming polymers, shiny and sheer, help to smooth the lips, with a contouring and plumping effect. Sugar esters provide softness, comfort and shine.
I find that Japanese brands make the most beautiful sheer watery shine finish lipsticks, and Western brands make better rich creamy pigmented ones.
The Sisley lipstick comes in this red velvet pouch which I know I will stop using very soon!
The packaging is high quality; it’s a shiny silver tube with a red S letter showing through. It is heavy weight which I think is important for any luxury end lipstick! Also no lipstick wobble.
The shades in the Phyto Lip Shine collection vary from nudes to deep burgundies, to reds and raspberries. I believe the darker shades are obviously more pigmented than the nudes!
01 Sheer Nude is a soft beige nude colour, very much like how you would expect a neutral; no orange-ness, no pink-ness, just a beige. I detect the finest shimmery content but it is more of a healthy gloss than a shimmery lipstick:
This is a firm textured glossy lipstick which is quite rare! In my experience, soft gloss lipsticks are easily snapped because of their textures. This is nothing like that, it’s surprisingly firm which means it takes a swipe or two to warm up. This also means that it has this sort of thick gloss texture and therefore stays put pretty well for a glossy lipstick!
Swatched – on my hand which is quite olive you can see it doesn’t show up much. I was a bit worried if it would show up at all on my pigmented lips.
So on my you don’t really get much pigment from it but what you do get is a very natural, glossy lipstick effect, nicer than lip balm on it’s own and it also neutralises some of the red I have going on naturally.
It is a really nice balm like texture which is hydrating and because it’s a bit sticky, it stays in place for a good few hours.
Close up – I wouldn’t call this a shimmery lipstick at all although there is the finest shimmer in there which it needs. I have preferred more colour in my lips recently but with my love of dark eyeliner I am guessing this lipstick will get lots and lots of usage because it’s like a neutral lip finisher.
Ingredients:
Very light scent in this, it’s not bad at all some expensive lipsticks put far too much perfume in theirs!
Verdict:
I like it mainly because it stays on for a decent length of time and with the texture, it’s going to last so am tempted to buy some other shades, possibly something more pigmented like a red for Christmas!
I believe you can buy Sisley from Harrods, House of Fraser online or on Sisley Counters.
