Maybe it’s because it’s nearly Christmas but ELF’s new Shimmer Eye Pencils look perfect for the dark cold evenings!
The ELF Shimmer eye pencil comes in nine shades and has the rather innovate ‘sharpener in lid’ thing. They remind me of Pencil Me In pencils!
This is incredibly useful and I want all eye pencils to have this! When I was on holiday I had one black eye pencil with me and no sharpener…naturally I had a blunt pencil for most of the week.
ELF say that their smooth formula will not tug at the eyes and have a special metallic sparkle to them. I don’t know…priced at only £1.50 I am highly highly dubious of eye pencil because I can’t stand anything that is hard or scratchy, or anything that pulls at the skin or needs warming up.
I also find that the majority pencils, especially cheaper ones don’t work on my waterline (I have quite watery eyes).
Anyway let’s take a look at the shade choices!
Boldly Bronze, quite a deep rich bronze brown:
Gunmetal, is a smokey grey:
Black Bandit, a black with silver shimmers:
Blissful Blush is a light silvery taupe:
Iconic Ivory is a white with silvery shimmers:
Grassy Green is a rich mossy grass shade:
A rich purple:
Precious Pink is a pale shimmery pink:
Twinkle Teal is a blue green shade (my favourite!):
Swatches:
Better talk about the product now…you know what? This pencil is EXCELLENT. It’s extremely creamy and soft, even without warming up, and they’re pigmented, especially the bolder colours.
I used it on my waterline and yeah – it actually worked! I would say in terms of texture, they are easier to work than my Shu Uemura drawing pencils but not quite as rich as my Urban Decay 24/7′s. But you know…it really is an excellent pencil.
Do these pencils draw well on the eye? Yes
Do they last long? About as long as an average pencil, by the end of the work day it has faded a little but it’s nothing drastic.
The sparkly bits in the pencil – I thought they would be more noticeable, but they aren’t. It’s quite wearable for those of you who are scared of glitter! I was a bit dubious about applying it to my waterline but I didn’t sense any irritation.
I did smudge this and use it as more of a shadow – it works ok but I prefer it as a pencil.
Verdict:
Genuinely and excellent, creamy pencil for those of you who want something cheap, handy, comes in loads of colours for just £1.50! Check it out here.

I too was dubious about the glitter in these eyeliners, plus the fact that they only cost £1.50 each…but now that I’ve seen you swatches and review, I will definitely be putting these on my To Buy list! Thanks for reviewing
