A good, creaseless, pigmented cream shadow is hard to find – for sure. The best creaseless, all day iron clad ones I can think of usually a little sheer (Jill Stuart Eye Jellies and Shiseido Hydro Power for example). Then there are the very pigmented ones that don’t stay put (Illamasqua creases, Nars creases).

So when I saw Too Faced’s Lock Down cream eyeshadows I was excited. Apparently these are infused with Shadow Insurance, one of my favourite shadow primers ever (more so that Urban Decay Primer Potion – I think Shadow Insurance gives more time for you to blend and doesn’t come in that daft packaging).

Got three shades, bedroom eyes a sheer champagne, the perfect base, dramarama, a rich brown and I’m guilty, a hot tropical blue.

All of these shades are pigmented – very pigmented. Dramarama and I’m guilty really show off how pigmented these cream shadows are. Box one, tickeddddd!

The creams are soft and nice to use, although I would still say it pays to blend quickly and not make a cup of tea mid application. Like a lot of long wear make up, blending quickly works best, before it sets.

Because when this sets…its set. It is very long lasting indeed. Box two, tickeddddd!

But is there any creasing? Well I found a little by the end of the day but I suspect this is because I rushed with the layering as I wanted a super strong effect. For full on look I suggest blending quickly then adding on thin layers, not slapping it all on in one go – one heavy layer will always crease quicker than thin ones.

It’s also nice to know that you don’t have to use a primer with these if they are already infused with the stuff – infact these cream shadows would be the perfect base for any eye look. Multi purpose as they say.

Overall – I love these cream shadows – one of the best on the market. I want them to bring out more bold and vivid shades like a true emerald green, a hot pink, a black with sparkles, a bright orange…ahhh heaven.

You can buy peruse the range here - you can pick up points this way and they also have 500 point for every 2 items bought from time to time.

I was just looking at these last night and the Urban Decay cream shadows. I already have a couple of the old Urban Decay ones which I use as a base. Been on a bit of a make up no buy for the past couple of months so thinking of treating myself.

Hi Christie

I think these are better pigmentation wise that UD old and new ones. The new UD ones are nice too but take much more to build up especially with the bright colours ( I love UD ‘grass’ which is a strong leafy green but takes 3-4 layers to build up). Yes yes get one of these as a treat! A bright one tho!
