Revlon’s Colorburst Lipstick launched in the UK on 02nd June. I was sent a couple to try out…not really sure what to expect:
I am really into lipsticks at the moment – even though its summer, I think its a great time of year to wear something bright and colourful.
Revlon Colorburst Lipstick are, as the name suggests, a range of pigmented and high impact lipsticks that feel light on the lips.
They say:
Elasticolor™ technology provides immediate color release and hugs lips with a burst of weightless color that feels like a second skin. Available in range of 20 gorgeous shades*
*This is from the US site, there are 12 UK colour options.
Here is their lady wearing the Colorburst lipstick, Ms Jessica Alba:
Firstly I like the packaging. Black packaging is rarely hideous and in this case, I like the padded criss cross pattern:
Lip Swatch time!!!
On the cap of each lipstick in a representation of the colour in the tube. This can be quite useful if you are buying in a rush – remember, all these lipsticks are sealed up so you can’t check the colour inside!
Even though the case looks matte it isn’t, which is a GOOD thing. It means we don’t have the horrible fingerprint mark thing going on.
This is what the lipstick looks like – quite elegant and modern, I think.
Now the lipsticks – I really really like them!
For one thing, they are as pigmented as Revlon say they are. They are very glossy at the same time, hydrating, and it didn’t take much to get full coverage on my lips.
My lips are also prone to getting dry and I find when I am doing lip swatches, I can only do so many before I have to stop for a break. Not so with these colorburst lipsticks.
Some swatches:
Blush is a nude beige-pink:
On the lips:
Nudes are usually my thing, but guess what? This didn’t do it for me! I mean, I liked it and I would wear it but it didn’t stand out as much as the others.
Fuchsia (which I can never spell properly without checking):
Notice how the colors are a little different in the tube to on the lips – just slightly though!
Fuchsia is fun, and wearable:
Well ok, not that wearable but I love it! No frost in it, thank god. Who wears Fuchsia with frost these days!?
Plum:
Again, not my usual colour but I loved it! I thought all these lipsticks, even darker ones like this, made my lips look plumper:
Next is True Red:
On me, this red had a pink undertone:
I like true red, its quite juicy so flattering for people who are a little scared of reds (like me! eek!)
Last is Coral:
Love Coral – its a rich orange red. This shade is my top pick for summer I think:
Swatches:
I did have a slight lipstick disaster and you will need to look out for this as the lipsticks are quite soft – this one was quite wobbly and squished itself to one side! Boo!
(But don’t worry, a tutorial on using a wobbly lipstick coming up!)
Colours:
This is a really fantastic lipstick, I have no qualms recommending it.
Its hydrating, glossy, pigmented, creamy – just lovely. My next purchase will be Peach or Rosy Nude, methinks!
What do you think of these lipsticks?

I’m living in austria and here the revlon brand is discontinued for some reason
Do you have any suggestions for a dupe of REVLON COLORBURST LIPSTIK in “Blush” ?
It’s a gorgeous colour and I am so sad that I didn’t buy a backup for it.
