Or perhaps I should have called it, ‘Do you remember?’.
I was thinking today, whilst waiting about 10 seconds for my Nicky Clarke Straighteners to heat up, about the old days and the first hair tool I owned. It was this Babyliss 4×4 kit, a white and yellow creation with interchangeable plates.
I am guessing it was about £15 from Argos.
For those of you who don’t know, when I was growing up there wasn’t tons of choice like there is now. These hair plates, were da bomb. They:
1. Had four interchangeable heads
2. Took about 20-30 mins to heat up properly. You would plug it in and leave it for as long as possible then come back to do your hair and…
3. Even then every hair style I did with it never stayed in. Everything dropped out as quickly as it was put in.
There was the straightener attachement which I never used (nor did I know anyone who did use it), because it just wasn’t hip back then – the fine waver which kind of worked but would drop out in about 1 hour, and the loose waving plate which was a whole other level of useless and then the crimper. Oh beloved crimper!
The crimper was the only one that worked properly in the hair and it sure felt soft and fuzzy, transforming your hair into a pillow like airyness but boy was it ugly. Boy IS it ugly.
So tell me -

Haha Row, I have the exact same crimper set as you. I bought it around 8 years ago?! I might still have it lying around. That time I cut my hair really short and it wouldn’t look good unless it’s straightened. So I begged my mom to get me a hair straightener. I used the crimper on my sis! She liked it…but then again she was only 11 yrs old at that time.

I used to love crimping my hair! I did a few years ago for a costume party, and it took me wayyy back.

Hey Liz
Everyone should crimp….actually no they shouldn’t. I’ve been using a waver which, with the crappy way I am using it is suspiously close to crimping, hmmmm
