I love Gel eyeliners but I have a million black ones already. Hence, I have been looking for interesting shades of gel liner to buy.

Lunasol gel liners in Olive Green and Red Brown caught my eye.

Lunasol is such a good quality brand that I had no doubt that it would be amazing quality. It arrived in a sturdy glass jar and comes with a pretty decent brush:

The colour range:

All of the colours in the Lunasol collection strike me as highly wearable with just a twist of colour.

This is the brush which is synthetic:

The colours are not particularly vivid – the brown red which I thought would be more burgundy is a very deep brown with just the slightest hint of warmth. The Olive Green is a very dark green. Neither colours are shimmery:

Swatches:

The texture of these gel liners are just right; not so creamy that they take forever to set, not so hard that they are scratchy and difficult to apply. You do need to keep your eyes closed for a bit as it sets, otherwise it’ll transfer onto your lid.

The Red Brown:

Olive Green:

Verdict:

Both of these gel liners are high quality and lovely to use. Admittedly, they aren’t very vivid, they are more blackened versions of their colours so bear this in mind. Having said that, this makes them far more wearable than anything too whacky.

I paid about £15 each for these. Buy them from adambeauty.com.

These are definately more wearable than I thought a warm brown and a green would be! xxx

I actually love how the colour isn’t too bright or vibrant. I think it’ll blend with your skin tone much better yet still give you that interest in colour. Do you know of any cheaper and more accessible gel eyeliners like that?

Hi Mint

Hmmmmmmmm. I guess Bobbi Brown does different colours but they aren’t exactly cheap. Do you look on eBay. Sellers like ‘Beauties Factory’ do all sorts of coloured gel liners for a few dollars each

They look amazing! I want! I’m an absolute sucker for eyeliner, especially gel eyeliners.

Hi Row,

I am following up to see how you are liking these liners. I am debating between the dark gray, dark blue and the olive green. I haven’t been able to find swatches of the dark blue but I am so fascinated by it. I think you mentioned in another post that black is getting a bit much for day to day and I couldn’t agree with you more. However, I still need a fairly dark color to give some drama to my eyes. I have the same coloring as you so I’m very interested in hearing how you’re liking it, and what you think of the gray and blue as well.

Love your site!

Pam

P.S. how is the staying power of these liners? I’ve used the Bobbi Brown gel liners but I still get raccoon eyes with them.

Hi Pam

I really like these gel liners. I think they last well it’s less creamy than BB gel liner so it tends to set better (altho I do find BB lasts ok on me). I really like the gray and blue – both are arker than the olive green and brown red I have. I really like the blue for brown eyes and I love the grey – how about grey for a change?
