I once said that if there was one make up brand that is heaven squished into a compact, it would be Cle De Peau (Shiseido’s super high end luxurious brand) I wasn’t lying.

It’s expensive though. Painfully so. (Level: teeth extraction with no anaesthetic).

Nevetheless I shelled out £30 on a solo (yes a solo!) eyeshadow in 102 Obsidian a smokey grey-blue. Purple Amethyst was my second choice:

So I get the eyeshadow and open it:

I’m underwhelmed. Are you underwhelmed? I hate sponge applicators too. Then on closer inspection

…….no I’m still underwhelmed.

No glittery top coat. No depth of colour. Just…a smokey blue grey. It was what it said it would be, nothing more. The texture is a little hard. Pretty pigmented, smooth texture. I’m underwhelmed.

Then I swatch it. Oh yes, its quite pretty. I use it on my eyes and one thing is for sure – the colour runs very true. What I see in the pan is very close on what I have on my eyes. It lasts all day without a primer.

Swatch:

So now I can’t decide if I like it or not. On one hand its ridiculously expensive for a small eyeshadow. It doesn’t give me a wow factor, but it didn’t promise me one anyway. Its a perfectly well balanced eyeshadow, smooth, long lasting, true. Not many eyeshadows are exactly what they say they are in the tin.

Would I buy this again? Yes, but I wouldn’t pay more than £20 for it and it would be in one of the more interesting colours, who needs a £30 eyeshadow in beige or white for cryin’ out loud!

Coo over the make up of Cle De Peau here.

I agree, £30 is a bit too much for a single eyeshadow. You choosed a beautiful shade, nonetheless. Purple Amethyst, Emerald and Aquamarine look nice too, but I don’t think I would splurge on them being that expensive!

Hey Eru

Everyone has their eyes on the same shades! I guess at that price you need a special shade, whats the point of spending so much on a cheap thing?

I really want this!!! I love the promo pic for this eyeshadow. They used one single colour to create a complex look. I love it. My first choice is emerald, followed by purple amethyst.

Hi Gwen

It is very pretty indeed and I can see how the shadow can be manipuated to do a few looks – once applied it is lovely. Purple amethyst is on my hit list IF I can get it for cheap!

That gets me w/this brand too (although I will never forsake the concealer). Reminds me of Sisley w/that sponge applicator…how can something so expensive, involve a sponge applicator?

I think it would be great to invest in such an awesome black color. I hated the texture of Mac’s well beloved Carbon and had been searching for a black eyeshadow ever since…I love how the black has a tinge of purple it and glides on so soft and smoothly.

I have fallen in love 102 and will be purchasing it soon!
