Finally, finally I have managed to get my hands on a beauty blender.
This pink coloured butt plug shaped sponge is supposed to help blend in anything and everything. Well, ok, foundation.
Here’s what they say:
How
Blend your way to a flawless face! Seeing make up is the first sign of an amateur application. Beautyblender was created without edges in order to eliminate visible lines and streaks. So go ahead, experiment fearlessly with your Beautyblender and discover the many ways its unique shape will set you free!
Bounce Beautyblender against your face when applying make up. Bouncing, called stippling in the make up world, blends make up without creating changes in the texture or tone of your skin. Use Beutyblender’s pointed side for hard-to-reach spots like around the nose and mouth, and under the eyes. Use the round base for foundation and blush on the larger areas of your face such as your forehead, cheeks and chin.
If you apply make up with your fingers you’ll find that Beautyblender will smooth and refine your make up to provide a clean finish.
Use Beautyblender damp when applying wet/dry make up. When Beautyblender is wet it is normal for it to expand to nearly twice its original size. Wash after use and place in the Beautyblender insert pedestal to dry. Beautyblender should not come in contact with extreme heat of any kind.
If you have problem skin Beautyblender works to cover blemishes. Use the pointed end and the stipple and twist technique to work make up into depressed areas of the face. The stippling and twisting action feathers out the make up’s edges, leaving a perfect finish.
I’ve been using it for a few days and I really like it. Yes, its just a sponge, but its got a nice firm texture, it doesn’t soak up too much product and it has made blending round the nose easy. I haven’t had streaky foundation for days so that must be a good thing?!
It says on the box you need to wash regularly and change the sponge every three months. In the UK a replacement sponge is £15…so its not cheap at all. Let me see if I can stretch out the usage to a 6 months!
I like this product a lot, cos I’m lazy and this makes life easier. If you are good at blending anyway you don’t really need this – but it is a nice lil beauty tool.

1) They do not last six months, I can assure you; if you’re using one Beautyblender sponge regularly, you’ll be lucky if it last even two.
2) 15 GBP for one sponge is INSANE! That’s robbery, that is! I bought 2 sponges at Dermadoctor.com for $25. With shipping it came to $28. I later ordered 2 more sets, and the shipping was free, so for the equivalent of 25 GBP, I got 4 sponges. Hopefully Dermadoctor offers affordable international shipping (though, then there’s the import duties and tariffs to consider…).

2 MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!! What! That’s nuffin!
I will check out dermadoctor, for sure, but international shipping is always quite high and the damn taxes would definately make it a waste of time unless the order was under $30.

I want this too! I never use any liquid foundations because they just don’t apply well on my skin even with primer and the best brushes. Maybe this would help. Its so expensive though!

hi row – can you update your thoughts about the beautyblender? i’m contemplating whether i should spend $35 usd for a pink sponge and cleanser!

Hey Pikko22
You know – I used it religiously for 2 weeks and I haven’t touched it since. It’s not that its not a good product, because it is – the shape is good and yes, you get a nice finish. It’s better than a brush, I think, but honestly, I prefer my fingers. It’s quicker and it warms up the product more. Also, it got quite annoying washing the sponge all the time (which you should do often really) – washing my brushes is tedious enough so doing the sponge every few days was even more annoying.
I’ll probably use it again when I want an extra special finish and have the time, but seriously, I prefer my hands. I think the price is pretty steep too, for a sponge that needs to be replaced every 2-3 months.
