Becca is one of those luxury brands that I love to lust after but it does have a hefty price tag to match.

ASOS is actually a great place to pick up bargains as they always have good deals on brands like Becca, Pixi, TheBalm, Essie, Korres and so on. I picked up these 2 sheer lip tints as they were (or are) £11 (50% off the RRP of £22):

I got Laelia (sheer peach nude) and Yasmina (sheer mauve nude):

Pretty right? See more after the jump!

Becca Says:

A collection of sheer, hydrating lipsticks with subtle shine in a palette of nude tones flattering for all skin tones, BECCA’s Sheer Tint Lip Colour contains a cocktail of emollients and antioxidants such as Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Honey and Vitamin E, to moisturise and protect the lips while providing a smooth, even application of creamy colour.

Swatch for Yasmina:

As you can see, it is very sheer but also very glossy, very pretty. Its madly comfortable to wear on my dry, dry lips and gave a nude, mauve shine. Yasmina is the perfect nude shade for me. There’s no sparkle in either colour.

Laelia:

This is quite an orangey-peach. Once again highly wearable and I can feel the quality in the product.

It comes in a very swish, very glam silver lipstick tube which feels heavy. Its stunning but easy to get fingerprint and grease marks on:

No doubt, if you like your nudes, if you want a glossy everyday shade these are wonderful. However – I must address the price. I paid £11 for each one and it was worth it, but at full retail price, £22 I don’t think I would have been so happy.

There is nothing wrong at all with these shades but when a lipstick breaks the £20 price barrier, I need more than GREAT I need something that makes me want to rub my thighs enthusiastically.

Other lipsticks at the £20 barrier (off the top of my head) include Cle De Peau Silky Lipstick (more like the £30 barrier!), YSL Rouge Volupte (many reviews of this product on this blog), MAQUillage’s lipsticks (due to our crappy exchange rate more than anything), Chanel Rouge Allure and Dior’s new Serum Rouge’s (review coming up!).

How does Becca’s stack up next to these heavy weights?

Not that well. No doubt a fab lipstick but I own a selection of the other lipsticks named above and when the shade is right in those formulas, they give me judders. Sheer Tint is wonderful but I ain’t got no judders (I may have udders).

Buy from ASOS here - its still half price!

nice review! I like the comparison with those other brands as it gives me a frame of reference. Someday, maybe I will buy a Cle de Peau lipstick. Maybe as a reward for finishing all my lip products (never gonna happen :P )
