You know some some people love nail polish and always post swatches? I am the same about Lip Swatches. I get withdrawl symptoms if I don’t post at least one a week.

Today I have the new colours from Maybelline’s Color Sensational range. I have only briefly swatched one or two of these before so this is my first time giving them a really good go.

#alttext#

BAM! I never knew Maybelline made such punchy lip colours!

Here are some swatches,

Maybelline Colorsensational Darling Pink:

#alttext#

This is a frosty type pink. I’m just not keen on frost (especially on dry lips) although this looks ok on, it’s not my fav:

#alttext#

However I do love the next pink…

Maybelline Colorsensational Pink Punch:

#alttext#

A super creamy rich hot pink. Love this one for hot pink lip days!:

#alttext#

Maybelline Colorsensational Mystic Mauve:

#alttext#

I’ll spoil the surprise, this is my favourite shade of the lot. It’s a neutral cool tones natural mauve, it is simply one of the most beautiful colours I have worn for a long time. Total love:

Maybelline Colorsensational Coral Fever:

#alttext#

I am also partial to their corals and oranges – just because I love these kind of shades anyway! As you can see these lipstick are semi-sheer – they are not as scary as in the tube at all, they are sort of glossy with medium pigment:

#alttext#

I quite like this coral fever! A bit of fun I think.

Maybelline Colorsensational Coral Tonic:

#alttext#

Another scary one in the tube, very pretty on the lips. Coral Fever is more of a peach ornage, this is more of a pink based orange. My second favourite lipstick. Really feels hydrating too which is a relief as my lips are so dry at the moment:

#alttext#

Maybelline Colorsensational Pleasure Me Red:

#alttext#

I believe this bold true red is one of the bestsellers and iconic shades in the collection. I can see why – it’s basically ‘that’ red, that works on most skin tones and is bold, creamy and lovely to wear. I don’t wear reds very often – where I come from you get beaten up with a baguette for wearing a red lip – but still, this is my third favourite shade.

#alttext#

I hate matte reds sometimes so drying, this one is nicely juicy.

I was also sent two of the ‘Pearls’ to try – these are even more sheer with a pearl edge. Now I thought these would be right up my street but I have to say, I found these hard to wear. On top of a stain, it might work but I found they made my dry lips look a bit worse:

Coral Pearl:

#alttext#

A light pearly frosty coral pink.

#alttext#

Kiss Pearl:

#alttext#

Very light frosty white pink. I think it could look quite nice on someone paler than me! A blondey perhaps. But you need really smooth lips for this one:

Swatches on hand:

I wouldn’t have normally gone to Maybelline for a lipstick – you know I’m a lipstick snob, but I am really impressed by these. I think this range has something like 48 shades so in the future when I need a cheap lip colour I will definitely check it out because I can see they are both hydrating and pigmented where appropriate.

I am UTTERLY in love with Mystic Mauve – will use this one a lot and also love Coral Tonic followed by Coral Fever for everyday. Pleasure me red is a must have.

The pearls I could leave – I find them too light and frosty but I’d look to try one of the more pigmented shades (if they make them!) in the future.

These are £7.19 each in Boots. (It’s also 3 for 2 at the moment).

Hello!

I think it was about two weeks ago that I bought one of these :)
The thing is, I bought Lady Red from Colour Sensational, and when I searched the Internet for it, I only found Pleasure Me Read (at first I thought it was renamed but then in the shop they were right next to each other and both shades are quite different…)
I could not choose at first, but after a bit of thought I decided to buy Lady Red (527) :) I am so happy with it :D

Also, great job! I love your blog and I am so grateful for all the swatches and pieces of advice :D Thank you!
