I don’t know why I have a thing for Loose Powders, especially as most of them last a life time – why would I need more than, say, one?!

I did really like the Armani Micro Fil Powder before I realised it is SUPER sparkly, and I iz no Edward Cullen.

Nevertheless, I purchased this Laura Mercier Loose Powder to try – I’ve heard so many good things about it.

Something about the brown of Laura Mercier’s packaging I find comforting. I don’t find it for a single second sexy or princessy or cute, but it’s kind of…comforting.

Here is the loose powder. I got it in Translucent which is colourless, but we all know that a lot of translucent powders leave a horrible, white, ashy cast to the skin or even worse, SPARKLES!

They say:

Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder is an extremely lightweight, sheer and silky setting powder that contains the finest French “cashmere” talc and a unique light-reflecting ingredient that creates a “soft-focus” appearance for fine lines and imperfections.

Well, is it any good? Here is the powder.

Not sure about it – it looks awfully white:

When using this powder I feared for the worse – I think it looks a little chalky when applied on the skin. But it does also feel extremely silky and light textured, setting my foundation without ever looking heav or crusty.

As you brush the powder away – it’s untraceable! Lovely!:

I LOVE this powder. Really.

It’s one of the best powders I have ever used because it so natural, it brushes away to nothing and leaves a natural, semi-matte finish, never sparkly or cakey. I’ve tried so many loose powders – I really really like this one, this is the staple one you use every day regardless of the time of year.

It cost £25 from Harvey Nichols – well worth it!

You can also buy it online from Space NK.

Translucent): Talc, Magnesium Myristate, Nylon-12, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Lauroyl Lysine, Methicone, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben, Ultramarines (Cl 77007), Iron Oxides (Cl 77491, Cl 77492, Cl 77499).

My current loose powders in circulation are:

1. ELF HD Powder (great stuff for the price)

2. Dior Extreme Fix Powder (like above but a posh, finer version, however is discontinued)

3. Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder

4. La Mer Translucent Powder (nice but a bit shimmery – I have totally ditched the Armani Powder it was extremely glittery)

5. Palgantong Powder (it’s Korean? Or Thai? Thai I think, anyway it’s like a stage powder, good for when going away)

Everybody just falls in love with LM loose setting powder, don’t they?
FYI, Palgantong is a Korean brand.
