There was a time when I wouldn’t have dreamed of using a leave in hair oil; there’s nothing more horrible than greasy, oily, lanky hair, and no, I can tell when you’ve used dry shampoo because your hair is matte! *shudder*
But that’s just me. I loved a bit of Coconut oil as a hair treatment but that was it. Then came along the hair oils, and I started to use them and grow to use them as part of my hair routine.
So in the last few months I have been rotating between three hair oils containing Argan oil (I don’t like using it neat on my hair at all) – Morroncanoil (Light), Schwarzkopf Oil Miracle Hair Finishing Treatment and L’oreal’s Mythic Oil. Below is Schwarzkopf Oil Miracle Hair Finishing Treatment:
Oil Miracle Hair Finishing Treatment comes in a sexy teardrop shaped bottle. It also comes in 2 strengths and the hairdresser recommended the lighter one for me.
This is a much thicker textured oil than the other two so you only need a bit. There is a bit of scent but it doesn’t smell particularly scrummy.
I find that this one can over burden the hair if you make the mistake of using even slightly too much – it is thicker after all but the problem is I prefer a more liquid texture so I can run it through all of my hair easily (I have a lot of hair!).

I found this once again didn’t help me with the upkeep of my hair but it did make it look a bit better once tried. I still had to use other various products to control frizz.
L’oreal Mythic Oil didn’t excite me at all and it took the longest for me to get this out of the box and try it. It looks the most artificial of the three in terms of ingredients when in reality, they all contain some additives and preservatives!
Because this is so liquid in comparison, like a sunflower oil texture, I had to use a good 4-5 pumps plus more on the ends when it was nearly dry (FYI: I tend to let my hair dry naturally). Then I used a bit of heat protection spray before straightening and nothing else.
My my! What beautiful, healthy, shiny, silky hair I had! I didn’t have to use anything else but frizz was well controlled, shine was there and despite me being a bit application happy, there was not overly greasy spots at all. Love this!

Finally -
Morrocanoil comes in light and dark textures and also colours. The dark one can dye hair apparently, but the light one is better for blondes. I have the light one although I’d prefer to use the heavier version.
I like Morrocanoil! Some people seem to hate it but I think it smells lovely and it’s pretty light textured too. I don’t find that this makes my hair greasy unless I go too close to the root.
With this product whilst it adds shine and hydration I need to use something else to tame the frizzies – it isn’t quite hydrating enough. I am not keen on it as a finishing product I think it looks a bit too greasy. It doesn’t make my hair easier to brush but it makes it feel a bit more healthy overall.
Ingredients (light verision):
Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Cyclomethicone, Butyphenyl Methlpropional, Argania Spinoza Kernel Oil (Argan Oil), Linum Usitatissimum (Linseed) Extract, Parfum (fragrance), D&C Yellow-11, D&C Redd-17, Benzyl Benzoate, Alpha-Isomethyl lonone.
Verdict:
Of the three oils I like L’oreal Mythic Oil the most. I love the results of what it did to my hair and I can honestly just use it on its own and not have to faff too much with other products. It is also the cheapest one.
The other two products are far more expensive and for me were nice additions to my routine too. Unless you have a specific preference for the Schwarzkopf or Morrocanoil I would choose Mythic Oil instead to try.

I know you don’t like using the oils neat, but have you tried Amargan Oil? A little goes a long way, and I’ve even used a tiny drop as a body oil. I’ve also tried Moroccan Oil, but really find this one better for my mid-length dark hair; it doesn’t leave it lank, just tangle-free and less prone to splitting.
