Kiss Me, famed for it’s excellent Heroine Make range, has a nail collection called ‘Mente’ – (click for reviews of it’s nail hardener!).

I’ve noticed a trend amongst Japanese nail products for Gel Top Coats.  The idea is getting a ‘gel nail finish’ but without the commitment of a gel nail. I’m all for that! I am not one for gel or fake nails (yes I know they are different things) so a low commitment top coat is ideal for me:

Kiss Me’s nail Mente range is quite small but quite good and affordable.

I don’t have any kind of die hard top coat or base coat products, although I do like CND’s Stickey base and of course Seche Vite as a top coat….

I used this a number of times over the last 2 months and I have to say, it’s a great top coat. It’s not too heavy, and dries fairly quickly despite looking like it’s left a thick, glossy layer on the nail. It’s no where near as gloopy as Seche Vite.

Also the gloss is just lovely. I do think there’s a slight gel nail look about it – some people asked me if my nails were fake – NO – but I suppose that’s because I have long claws at the moment (“Don’t you think your nails are a bit long” – Mr C. And off I go to chop them….)

Do you ever get that? When you get so intent on growing your nails or your hair that you don’t notice when you morph into an impression of a witch?  Hair full of split ends?  Nails splitting at the edges? Don’t think girls, just CHOP.  I digress.

Here’s 1 coat of the Nail Mente Top Coat:

Also, I found my polish lasted a week, not bad, not bad, I do a lot with my hands so I think it’s pretty good.

All in all, this is my current to go Top Coat – I can’t think of any faults with it at all.

I bought this from adambeauty.com I paid about £6 I think!

What is your favourite base and top coat?

that’s pretty cool! I only got the nail mente hardener and it’s nice, I think this will be (one of) my next purchase xD
right now I’m using an Italian brand top coat (KIKO) but it literally cracks after few days…that’s weird!

Oooh this looks like it could give my trusty Seche Vite a run fo its money :) Does it help the polish dry quicker like the Seche Vite?
