Why hair lair there!  So you’ve stumbled upon my disclaimer page.

Here’s the nitty gritty stuff.

The Blog

This is a personal weblog. I am a just a make up and beauty lover who enjoys buying new things, writing, taking photographs and having fun.  I am not a trained make up artist or cosmetic scientist but I do my best and I check my facts before making sweeping statements.

The views and opinions expressed here represent my own and not those of the people, institutions or organizations that I may or may not be related with unless stated explicitly.

In other words – I choose the content on this blog and the opinions on here are mine.  For me blogging is a creative process, and it’s different from other kinds of media. I write for many clients around the world and what I like about this blog is that it is mine – I say what I like, I include what I like, and I highly encourage other bloggers to embrace that fearless independent spirit – don’t be a sheep, don’t copy me (yes, people tell me and how we laugh about it), don’t be dictated to and don’t dictate.

Also, my thoughts and opinions change from time to time as I come to learn more and develop my understanding about the things and issues that I am blogging about. This blog just provides a snapshot of the knowledge, views, and opinions that I hold at a particular point of time and these might most probably change over a period of time. I reserve the right to evolve my knowledge, thoughts, and viewpoints over time and to change them without assigning any reason.

If you find that something I like doesn’t work for you, then I can’t be held liable for this – remember, each to their own – I am only making suggestions.

Me

As mentioned above, I am not a trained make up artist, beauty therapist or the like.  Although I write constantly, I am not faultless and will occasionally make spelling and grammatical mistakes – this blog is an outlet for me and sometimes I just let things flow rather than keeping everything very straight laced and static.

Although I would love to write on this blog all day every day I simply don’t have time, so occasionally (or should I say rarely) there will be days with no new posts and comments take a while for me to get back to (email if its urgent).

Please understand that as a young woman I have a full time job like most people, I have household/day to day commitments like most people, I have family/caring responsibilities like some people, I am a multiple cat momma, I also have freelance work in the evenings after my job and I write posts for this site and others too.  Rest assured, every moment of my day is accounted for.  (Holidays? Sleep?! What are they?!)

Why do I do it then? I love it!

PRs

I buy 75% of my make up and skincare, I get 25% from various companies to test out and review.  When I started I didn’t get anything free and PRs approaching me is something that only happened from mid- late 2009.

Of the 25% I review about 40% of these – the majority of the time I don’t show you the item if I am not inspired by it. You’ll find a review on some other blog – just not on mine.

I love being able to work with PR (some are great!) and it means I try things that aren’t in my normal psyche – HOWEVER I will only review products that I feel like talking about.  I am not afraid of upsetting a company/PR (can you guess) because I buy enough of my own products and have enough in my stash to keep me going for the next decade when I force it on to my own daughters.

As of January 20th 2010, I will be inserting a logo at the bottom of review posts stating explicitly if I have bought or been sent a beauty product.

Ads and Links

Cosmetic Candy is part of Glam Media and the ads run on the site are run by them – I can’t control what is shown (although I find myself logging on and going, oooh that’s a nice ad quite often!).  I never get paid money by a company to review their product.

?Cosmetic Candy contains advertising and some contextual affiliate marketing links.  The content of posts on this blog are never influenced by advertisers or an affiliate partnership, nor are posts written for the sole purpose of promoting a product.

Affiliate Links:

I reserve the right to include an affiliate link in future posts if I desire it however you will be alerted within said post if it includes an affiliate.

My blog includes links to other sites/blogs operated by third parties. These are provided as a means of convenient access to you to the information/opinion contained therein. I am in no way responsible for the content of any other sites or any products or services that may be offered through other sites.

Sponsored and Supported Posts

Sometimes companies approach me to write a post about their product. I will only write sponsored posts for companies I feel are good, legitimate ones that have something interesting and useful to offer my readers.

Payment for sponsored posts is accepted for the time it takes to create the editorial, not – at any point – to write a positive review for something which I do not favour.  I will not write positive reviews or pieces about things I do not know about, companies I do not trust or products I have never used or tested beforehand.

Images

Occasionally images found on the web and believed to be in the public domain are used on this site. I don’t claim to be the owner of such images. All visual content are copyrighted to their respectful owner. If you are the owner of an image and want it removed, please, email me and I will do so as soon as possible.

Comments

Comments are welcome. I am happy to accept criticism, have a debate or even a full blown hissy fit with you.  I stand by my reviews and comments (although you should understand that I am British and very sarcastic).

However, note that, tasteless and insulting comments may be deleted – as in racism, comments with less than three syllables, and general diatribe. Any personal remarks and attacks may be deleted. The same holds true for off-topic comments. Any comments that reek of link spam or marketing messages WILL be deleted.
I am not responsible for the content in comments other than those made by me, or in blogs or other online content that I may link to.

Otherwise, I am fair game.

Please note that I may not be able to reply to all comments and emails.

By using this blog site you understand that this information is not intended to constitute beauty/skincare advice and you must use your own initiative when using products.

I love all my readers, by the way, even the psychotic ones.
