Clinique’s Chubby Stick is a very appealing combination of lip balm, sheer lip colour and pencil…should you like drawing with lip pencils. It has a lot going for it, on paper, such as not requiring a sharpener (just swivel up!).
When Clinique had it’s bonus time, always generous, always pointless because I never use them but somehow can’t stop myself being swept away, I picked this Chubby Stick in Woopin’ Watermelon:
Wow, that’s not an annoying name for a lip product, at all.
From what I remember the shade range was varied, as Clinique’s often are but all quite safe.
As all of the colours weren’t pigmented, I went for the brightest one I could find, hence the watermelon, a slightly blue toned pink.
The pencil:
That IS a chubby stick! It reminds me of Stila lip glaze pencils which I would use until they were flat, then because I can never find a pencil sharpener, it would be retired into a cupboard somewhere. Guess that non-sharpening thing will come in really handy. Oh, I also like how the outside of the pencil matches the shade of the actual product.
Meanwhile, let’s talk about texture. This is not as soft and creamy as I thought it would be but that’s a good thin – it’s a pencil and has to keep it’s shape, not much down with every application.
It leaves a fine gloss over the lips. Can I imagine this as a lip balm…actually yes, it has a similar texture. Colour swatch:
There’s no point moaning about this being low in pigment or not very long lasting because it is only really, a tinted lip balm in a pencil form. But do my eyes deceive me?! Not a lover of Clinique but I think these pencils are rather fabulous. This particular colour, Woopin’ Watermelon had just the right amount of tint, left my lips looking softer and more hydrated, plumped, glossy.
Also it is so easy – you can be fairly neat, what with it being a pencil shape, and you can just fill in with a few swipes since it is, a pencil stick! Lovely!
On my lips:
Doesn’t last too long probably about 3 hours if you don’t eat or drink anything. I still like it though! Would consider another shade…maybe when there’s another bonus time.

They seem quite handy.
I have a Shiseido lippie that is handy and easy to use; but they don’t have an extensive selection of colors so I haven’t thought about getting more. The Clinique option seems quite nice.

I’ve been seeing adverts for these all over double decker buses in London! lol. Texture looks nice and balmy, love the color, too!

Ooooh might go and have a mooch around the Clinique counter next time I’m in Boots, I’ve kind of had a grudge against Clinique since their 1-2-3 skincare system wrecked my skin, but this chubby stick looks pretty good. I have a couple of Eyeko ones that look similar, but they’re missing the balm element.
