Models Own Beetlejuice was talked about with such passion from Nail Polish loving bloggers that I just had to purchase all 5 of the colours on launch. I can see why people love it so much…it’s a gorgeous looking!

Each bottle contains four pearlescent colours mixed into one gleaming shade for an optimum high finish. Inspired by the beautiful wings of a beetle, this collection mimics the complex colour-shifting with flashes of vivid tones and ethereal hues giving a shimmering duo chrome finish.Models Own Beetlejuice Emerald Black Golden Green Pinky Brown Aqua Violet Purple BlueI find Models Own nail polish pretty standard in that I neither find it hard or easy to apply. It has a medium thick texture – for me the thinner a polish is, the easier I find it to use but I don’t find the formula too gloopy.

The colours are really pretty and have that duochrome effect.

From left to right they are: Emerald Black, Golden Green, Pinky Brown, Aqua Violet, Purple Blue.  I am sure nail bloggers can  talk to you all day about these polishes, I just think they are kind of unusual and interesting to look at!   Anyway Beetle Juice is one of my favourite childhood films – it’s so grotesque so I thought I’d go through the film to see if I could find what these Models own colours have been inspired by.

Emerald Black – I struggled here.  There are lots of greens in the film but I don’t know they were were black-green. How about this:

Golders Green – that doorway. Would you go through?

Pinky Brown?

Aqua Violet?

I remember Winona from those old days, Heathers, Mermaids…she was cool back then.

Purple Blue – I struggled here…

I’m a bit disappointed actually; whilst the colours do look like a pretty beetle’s shell, I wish they reminded me more of the actual film.  What about Beetle Juice’s horrible black and white suit? Winona’s red wedding dress? That horrible desert?

Meh, that’s just me nit picking.

Pretty pretty polishes:

I loved Beetlejuice when it first came out (I paid the fine for late return to the video shop at the time to watch it twice) and it’s still a favourite today. Out of the polishes, Purple Blue and Aqua Violet are my faves x

Oooh I haven’t seen Beetlejuice for ages. Must dig it out and watch it sometime soon!
Pinky Brown is personally my favourite but I kind of wish they had come up with better names than just the colours. Perhaps some creepy crawly or bettle puns would have been good?!

I love purple blue!
I would have assumed that they were called Beetlejuice because they look like beetles’ shell, because as you rightly point out the colours don’t necessarily remind you of the film
Pretty colours nonetheless

Gorgeous nail colours, despite the creepy references!

I thoguht they were from the film too but a quick look on their website says

“Inspired by the beautiful wings of a beetle, this collection mimics the complex colour-shifting with flashes of vivid tones and ethereal hues giving a shimmering duo chrome finish.”
