Hope Girl is a Korean cosmetic and skincare brand that I recently discovered whilst browsing eBay! I was suckered in my the leopard print packaging. I purchased 4 of their ‘Milky Balm Lipsticks’ because they are supposed to have a creamy hydrating texture:
They come in boxes like this. There’s something a bit dated about them but oh well, we’re not here for the boxes!
These lipsticks are quite pigmented which is unusual as a lot of Asian brands focus of shimmery sheer textures.
The lipsticks – the packaging is nice and heavyweight although I dislike the coloured base which reminds me of a tester!
The packaging reminds me of Helena Rubenstein make up.
The good thing about these lipsticks is that they leave a nice amount of colour on the lips.
I chose:
PK205 Daisy Pink – A warm light pink
PK202 Pinky Pops – A cool pale pink
PR304 Orange Pops – A bright fresh orange
RD101 Chicago Red – A deep rich red
I like to mix things up!
I have to say whilst I think these lipsticks have a nice texture they aren’t anywhere near as balm like as I had wanted. I think a lipstick that sells itself as a balm too should have a richer texture and hydrate better. I find these lipsticks can be a bit hard textured and although they can still leave a decent amount of colour on the lips I wanted something more squish.
Swatches:
PK202 is my favourite one although they are all quite nice colours. There’s no shimmer in any of them so they can look a bit flat if you aren’t careful.
Verdict:
Decent enough lipsticks but not really hydrating enough to be called balms as well so for me, not really that special.

I like these all-in-one lip products because I’m lazy. Too bad these don’t do what they claim to do. Just ordered some Revlon Lip Butters, and I hope they live up to the legend!
