Remember when Carrie in SATC, and she made the name necklace popular?

Yeah, well, I never got my mitts on one…but I have now! In Sterling Silver too:

So not a make up item for once, but still something beautifying! They also make it in gold, in different fonts, with jewels. I opted for something quite simple, so I can wear it day to day:

I am in love with the retro plastic style (may order one for the 15-year old):

Also this one is a bit different:

It took 2 weeks for my necklace to be made and arrive so you will have to be quick for Christmas ordering. My necklace costs £35 but prices vary.

You can browse the range here .

I’ve got a 15% discount offer for you guys, use COSMETICCANDY09 (the code is case sensitive) during checkout. (No, I don’t get commission from any sales!)

These pieces were really popular in early and mid ’90s here in the states; you could go to (often specialized) jewelry stands/kiosks in the malls and they’d make you your own necklace. The necklaces were worn largely in the urban centers/inner-city (Philly, NYC, etc…) and then their popularity burgeoned in the suburbs as well. The trend later experienced a renaissance thanks to My Little Pony Parker and her show(‘s stylist Patricia Fields); like many (often unfortunate) fashion trends, SITC made it popular amongst yuppies and wannabe-fashionistas, even those who didn’t watch the show religiously.

I prefer to take my style cues from Billy Piper and Secret Diary of a Call Girl.
